It's a pre-order ad, those things should come with a grain of salt taped to the back.
Man, I told myself I wouldn't get excited over games until I see gameplay because they never come out how I want, but this is getting pretty hard.
Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally! Also for the record, I would be totally okay with Halo meets Borderlands.
Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally!I think Bungie is capable of more than that.
I am not, but if it is more then that I will be totally into it. But if it's just a big ass world with gun drops and the tone and story similar to Marathon and Halo I will be totally okay.
Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally! Those messages from the ARG sound like the slightly more coherent versions of the Marathon Infinity dream messages.
EDIT: Is it possible to make a FPS game with Demon's/Dark Souls multiplayer mechanics?

That might be possible, although from what I've read in playtester interviews Destiny sounds more MMO-y than that. They describe travelling to an enemy location to find other players already neck-deep in the fight, for example.
@ the ARG messages: yeah, they do, don't they? It looks like in the Destiny-verse, pretty much every planet in the solar system has been terraformed, so they're likely to be in-game locations.
Also, am I the only one who really likes the "Be brave" tagline? It's just really succinct and catchy.
Someone at Bungie called it "World Of Warcraft in Space"
With First Person perspective.
World Of Warcraft in space sounds fairly Borderlands esque.
Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally!Halo meets Borderlands meets Marathon. Meets Pathways Into Darkness. Meets Myth. Meets Deus Ex. Meets System Shock.
There, are we done yet?
Sounds like Firefall, except it'll likely be far less revolutionary in concept.
>Firefall >Revolutionary in concept
I mean if putting a bunch of players in the same area is revolutionary then yeah I guess.
Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally!That's... Not even remotely what I meant. Actually do your research, mate.
I keep hearing that this is going to be an Xbox exclusive or timed-exclusive.
Any truth to that?
>Firefall is a massively multiplayer online team-based computer game
Yup, never heard about anything like that before.
Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally!I swear, if Wesley Crusher is involved...
Jonah FalconThe final day of the ARG has been solved, and a rewards page has been unlocked.
It contains all of the images unlocked during the course of the week, a Destiny wallpaper and a soundtrack sneak-peak. The former two are pretty neat, but the latter is probably the most exciting thing, IMO.

Slightly more info and new art.
No PC version, sadly.
My interest just plummeted then.
*Sigh* Seriously? I explicitly said do your research. Let's go down the list, shall we? No leveling and the benefits of exp gain are largely downplayed, entirely player-driven narrative, and only a small portion of the game's content will be immediately accessible to all players, and the community as a whole has to put some effort into pushing back the Melding to access more content, which defies conventional MMO wisdom entirely. And that's not quite all, but that would just derail the topic.
Really, I'm not exactly hoped for Destiny. The Halo games are massively overrated.
Edit: So it's gonna be designed for consoles? Whelp, I knew it, it's gonna be mediocre. I stopped playing console FPS games ages ago.

"No subscription fees" - Excellent, that was something I was worrying about.
Still, the lack of a PC version is a bit disappointing - I was hoping to get some of my friends involved, and we mostly game on PC.
I very much doubt it's going to be mediocre by any reasonable standard. There's a good chance it's going to look and sound fantastic, especially the music, and the amount of experience Bungie has making and polishing shooter gameplay is going to pay off.
That being said, if you just don't like console shooters you're probably not going to think highly of a new one.

While I'm glad that this isn't a military shooter, no PC version means no buy for me. Unless it turns out to be really REALLY good somehow. But in a time when shooters are a dime a dozen, that's unlikely.
Same. I'm really hoping its more than just "Halo meets Borderlands"
