What up?
Flash is my tool, but I've also done some 3D shit in 3DS MAX.
"True story, I came when I read Scrye's story, and so did everyone within five miles." —OOZEWell, I was an animation major for one semester during my freshman year in college...
There's no justice in the world and there never was~I'm studying 3D modeling and animation.
I use a software called Dragon, which I use in conjunction with a camera called the Lumix FZ50. I use a TV Tuner(basically the same thing you use for Let's Play videos) to put the camera feed on the computer, as a sort of video assist, and I use a remote shutter to take frames on the camera. I later upload the photos into Quicktime Pro to make a Image Sequence, set the frame rate at 24 frames per second(25 fps if you're in Europe), and the rough animation is finished. I wish to get one of these Eye-Fi cards to streamline the process, since the software I use supports it.

Toon Boom right here!
Mainly Flash. I try to make it look like tradtional animation as much as possible. Sometimes I even scan drawings into Flash. I will join.
Giving this a decade's necro because I feel it is a useful meeting place.
Hi, I've animated things in the past. I mainly use Anime Studio Pro for 2D stuff and Blender for 3D stuff (the latter not as much because my laptop can't handle the new versions). I have finished the first draft of an animated film and I have had other ideas for animated projects as well.
Below are two of the animations I am most proud of:
I have a great interest in animation and wanted to become an animator about 10 years ago. I have made a few test animations but nothing substantial even though I've made some attempts. I even attended a six-week online class at Animation Mentor in 2012. Specifically the Maya introduction workshop. I enjoyed it a lot but also found it very difficult and could not continue that right now. I'd like to get back into it, but maybe I like writing for animation better. I've been doing a lot more writing now and have gotten into different classes for different subjects but I'd love to learn more about animation. So maybe I'll consider myself part of this guild.
Anyone have any tips on where a total beginner should start with animation?

Maybe a light phone software like Flipaclip, or something along those lines. Just help get some of the basics out of the way.
However, I'd recommend you learn how to draw first, at least. Blender, however, is a useful tool for 3D animation (although I can only really do planet animations because they're so simple).
she/her/they | wall | sandboxYeah, one of my big mistakes is how little I knew how to draw. Even with the program I was using that the school gave me a trial of, (Autodesk Maya) you need to know some drawing basics. Anyone done any comic books or animatics here? I comissioned a few Superhero Character designs which I think would look pretty good in motion, but it would be a time consuming process.
Learn to draw asap if you haven't already, basic art classes and figure drawing especially. There are a couple of free animation software listed here: https://learn.g2.com/free-animation-software, and You Tube has some decent animation tutorials for most of them. But you'll need the basics of drawing and drafting stuff first. Hope that helps.

I have Blender, but never actually gotten very far with it. I'll be sure check out the animation software and tutorials.
I mostly animate puppets, either through stop-motion or by digital image/video manipulation. Besides that I also use marionette-techniques to achieve certain motions I'm still unable to get properly through stop-motion. Among the short projects I've worked on is the yearly bumper-contest for Longbox of the Damned, which I've participated in for five years in a row.

Hey, Flip-a-Clip user here, yes I know the app is horrible sometimes but if you wanna get off the ground, use it. (Unless you don't want phone throwing.)

The Poggest Cat Lover Around.
If you've checked my page yet, I'm a hobbyist stop motion animator in my free time, who even has a project in the works as well. And... i'm pretty sure I'm the only animator here. Is there any other fellow animators in the depths of the Wiki?
