Ditto Fighter is when they become the other fighter entirely. The full moveset, which in fighting games is pretty explicit, but in other media would be something like adopting their fighting style or mannerisms. Just being able to use other people's powers, whether it's stealing or copying, is simply Mega Manning.
Increasing your power based on the opponent's power is completely different.

Thanks for the reply. That makes sense. I might suggest a Mirror Power trope in the near future to cover the second type of power I mentioned.

Had a question about the Ditto Fighter trope. I know it has a general category for non-video game examples, and I wondered if some instances fit that trope.
I've just started watching Heroes, and Peter's ability seems closer to the Ditto Fighter than Mega Manning (since he copies powers rather than taking them).
I was also wondering about the protagonist of Basilisk as well as a character named Vitaily in the Night Watch books- in both cases, the character essentially mirrors the killing intent of anyone who fights them- the more violent the attack, the more brutal the death of the attacker.
