TROPERS NOTE: Never punch an oni in the face. Just don't.
Just because Yuugi likes to fight doesn't mean she'll appreciate someone randomly sluging her. She may be a Blood Knight, but enjoying being randomly attacked is just...strange.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.i said it was how you say hi
i never said it would be random
shes used to it
"Seriously, don't eat the mermaid. And not just because it's half cannibalism." ~OtherarrowTo whom did it occur to that punching an oni in the face would be a good idea?
And how drunk were they?

I have no horse, and I must ride. I accomplish unlockments.Oni drunk.
Only onis should be oni drunk.
Did Suika punch Yuugi by any chance?
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Hmmm... they say that at that level of drunkenness lies the secret to time travel.
I have no horse, and I must ride. I accomplish unlockments. She'll only punch back if she feels you're not putting enough into it (i.e. if there's still any intact bones in your fist afterward). If she thinks you've tried your best she'll buy you a drink.

That does sound like something she'd do actually. Huh. Why didn't I think of that.
Still, it must at least be a little annoying. I wouldn't recommend doing it while she is drinking.
Never mess with an oni while they are drinking.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Then when do you mess with them?
I have no horse, and I must ride. I accomplish unlockments....Got me there.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Yuugi~Carefree Captain
Oni aren't the type to have leaders. An oni would rather spend their time drinking than ruling. Even if an oni did want to take charge, it would be impossible. To gain an oni's respect, one must only be strong and honest. To gain an oni's obedience, one must be strong beyond imagination and candid to the very core.
Yuugi is not a leader. She is simply strong beyond imagination and candid as the sun. She'll do.
As the strongest of the underground oni, one of the Four Devas of the Mountain, the oni who manipulates supernatural phenomena, Yuugi has two tasks: ensure that the evil spirits do not reach the surface and ensure the protection and safety of the other youkai. Though she would rather party forever, she always fulfills her duties. If you wander around the Former Capitol, you may find Yuugi wiping out a horde of spirits, or making sure another oni helps out a recent arrival.
Yuugi always takes two things with her when she goes out on business: her sake dish and her smile. The sake reminds her of the party that she was attending and, most definitely, will be retuning to. Her heart belongs to the party, the eternal will to live life for the sake of enjoyment, the infinite hedonism. The smile reminds her that there is no need to be upset over the interruption. It's never a chore. It's simply a responsibility that the strongest must maintain. No big deal, right?
Really, Yuugi doesn't feel like much of a leader, even though she's a Deva and probably one of the most dangerous youkai in existence. But, it is the custom, no? Whenever a Touhou character is mentioned as a member of a species present in Gensokyo, it is often assumed that she is the leader or high ranking member of that species. And often, that assumption is correct (Wriggle, Nazrin, Cirno, etc.). So, Yuugi is captain. Deal with it.
Also, first.

you'll then have a grave in the clouds where you won't lie too crampedThe Oni with the Star on Her Horn
As mentioned, Yuugi is a oni-like oni. She drinks. She fights. She drinks well. She fights well. While she isn't egotistical, she knows how strong she is and often shows off (after all, her sake not even drop!! </meme>) Despite this, she is a relatively friendly person for a oni, even if she tends to act more like a "jock" than most of the Touhou cast and may not know her own strength in proportion to squishy humans/youkai.
Rumor has it that she is friends with that bridge elf Parsee. If this is true, then Yuugi probably declared herself Parsee's friend, as Parsee would be too jealous of Yuugi's various "advantages" such as being strong or being an oni, among other things, to be doing the befriending. Regardless, Yuugi would never let up on Parsee's case, as after all, oni are stubborn and Yuugi is a very oni-like oni.
Yuugi is also friends with fellow Diva of the Mountain Suika. Due to mostly their size, I see Yuugi as sort of a "big sister" figure to Suika, as much as a oni can be at least.
Underneath her oni-like oniness, there may be a part of Yuugi who wants to be even partially distinct from other oni. After all, why else would she paint a star on her horn?
This is pretty much a rewriting of my previous Yuugi write up, with things being less "conversation-y". I honestly won't be able to tell how long/short it is until I post though. However, seeing as Yuugi is a character who has only appeared in one game, I'm sure things will be fine with this length. Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.
Yarrun, I really liked that. It pretty much nails down what I think of Yuugi perfectly.
Otherarrow, you took my silly comment and ran like a track star with it. :V

"Seriously, don't eat the mermaid. And not just because it's half cannibalism." ~OtherarrowTo be fair, according to one source, ZUN said pretty much the same thing. Oni-like Oni. Yep.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed....Is that where I got it from?
Huh.
"Seriously, don't eat the mermaid. And not just because it's half cannibalism." ~Otherarrowx16 If my life had a face then lots of people would say 'Hi' to me
That awkward moment where Kyoro is one of Satan's Generals.I'm just going to address Parsee/Yuugi, since I forgot to do that in my write-up.
Going by my interpretations of the two, the pairing is technically impossible. Parsee rarely expresses her constant feelings of jealousy, as shown by her dialogue in SA. All oni greatly value openness and truth, as mentioned in PMiSS. Parsee isn't open; she closes her jealousy inside of her.
I suppose there's one way it could work. Yuugi could endeavor to make Parsee more truthful about her feelings.
you'll then have a grave in the clouds where you won't lie too crampedJust going to comment on Yuugi's boss theme and stage theme (mostly the boss theme), and how one post said they should be switched.
In my opinion, it's perfectly apropos, in the context of one's boss theme being about who they are. And Yuugi's definitely taking it easy, even while she's in the middle of a danmaku battle. Nevermind that her being laid back during a battle still manages to beat the crap out of you (for certain values of "you"). She's just that good. She never has to go all-out. So she doesn't.
I'd like to see what she's like when she does, though. She's easily EX-boss material.
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...Do you think she fights with spirits and fell winds to keep from pulverizing her opponent's body?
I like to think that the percentage of full power an Oni uses is equal to her sobriety level. That way they can be apocalyptically powerful and amiable at the same time.

In what way is scale balanced?
Sober to Drunk=Weak to Powerful or the other way 'round?
I have no horse, and I must ride. I accomplish unlockments.Nah, they go from holy shit strong to ungodly strong
"Seriously, don't eat the mermaid. And not just because it's half cannibalism." ~OtherarrowLet me put it this way: There can be 100% sober Oni OR there can be a Gensokyo, but not both. Do the math.
No such thing
you'll then have a grave in the clouds where you won't lie too cramped
Punching her in the face is how you say hi to Yuugi.
You just don't want her to say hi back.
