No 40K thread yet? I'm surprised. Nay, shocked, shocked I say to discover there's gambling going on in this establishment...

I'm eagerly anticipating the imminent 5th Edition release, personally, but I was interested to know if anyone here plays and has a differing opinion on it. There are certainly plenty of people out there who seem to think that 40K 4th edition "only just" came out and that a new edition isn't needed. Anyone?

Warhammer Fantasy (including Age of Sigmar and WFRP) has its own thread here.

Got 2 boxes of Tzaangors, although I knew I had them coming.

I got me a Devilfish. Biggest thing I've painted yet, so I'm pretty excited.

[up]1. That's Age of Sigmar and this is the 40K thread. 2. You obviously haven't been keeping up with the background material as the lore from the run up to the summer campaign this year made it clear Slaanesh is alive and possibly enjoying his/her captivity.wink

Well of course, it involves chains and pain and an audience. The perfect bondage/humiliation fetish situation.

I'd be down for the Skaven with Great Horned Rat in tow showing up in 40K. Space rats wouldn't be the weirdest thing in the setting by far.

Indeed. Plus all of their weird technology would be less out of place.

They could be like an evil version of the Death Korps, too.

So, Tyranids were running from Skaven?

There used to be a skaven clone with the form of the Hrud, but their skaven conection were drop up, noe they are their own thing enterely.

[up][up] Ironically enough it turns out the Skaven were running just as fast in the opposite direction tongue

I have seen some cool Skaven conversions being used as Cultist units in various Heretic Astartes armies now and again and even one entire Chaos Skaven Marine army that was quite cool.

The Hrud did used to be 40K Skaven but now they are weird things that apparently eat time.

I got Canis Rex from my wife (I'll build a Crusader and possibly put the Rex-specific bits on eBay) and a $50 gift card from my parents that was specifically noted to be used for paints...not gonna argue. wink

Voting for Model of the Year 2018 is on the Warhammer Community site. My favourite is model overall is actually Lady Olynder from Age of Sigmar but my favourite 40K model from this year is probably the Aeldari Ranger in the Blackstone Fortress set or possibly the new plastic Cryptek.

I had to go for the cryptek with canoptek cloak.

Don't play GSC, but all these new characters look like they'll be awesome conversion fodder for my Admech or Guard. Locus just needs some aquilas to be a good Priest or Primaris Psyker, put the vox-dude on a greatcoat body for a Company Commander etcetera. Was already using the Neophytes to make naval Skitarii in voidsuits and might use the Goliaths for suitably scrappy Ecclesiarchy Militia vehicles, if they keep this up my armies might be more GSC than Imperium.

Why? They're zealous enough, and some of them can even hold three guns at once! I see no problem with this whatsoever.

Ambulls sound familiar. They're one of the general "these are so tough" creatures like the hrud, right? Ass-kicking alien whatsits that space marines/your-army's-elite-dudes take on?

[up]Alien animal that Humanity has tried to domesticate with little success but Ambull steaks are still popular with the upper class of the Imperium. They are great diggers. Some made an appearance in a Caphius Cain book.

One last preview for the Open Day a Chaos guy they aren't saying anything about but who looks like a special Dark Apostle or Sorcerer character of some sort.
