Why do I have the feeling that the "easy" way is going to end up being the hardest?

Ennesby's really getting the short end of the stick recently. Everything is falling on his shoulders whether or not he actually wants it to.

Concerns. It seems like Putzho might have screwed them over again by pulling Ennesby away early. Or maybe Ennesby is just a really terrible negotiator. I still remember that time he thought showing up at the esppies would inevitably start a galactic war.

Also, he's more likely to stay if the part he wants to be included in most is at the end.

To be fair, he probably knows what at least some of those are, he's demonstrated knowledge of military lingo in the past.

Update. So did the crazy Chinooks shoot at the sane one, or did the oafans do that? They seem rather unconcerned about the shooting, which implies to me that they were behind it.

My guess is that the oafans want to eliminate Chinook entirely, whether that's done by Chinook's own rogue insane splinters or them in a more clinical setting that happens to leave the ship itself usable. Ennesby and maybe Putzho actually want to help Chinook, so they'll probably use this last remaining sane splinter to kind of perform a system recovery on the main one.

Given "Hold still!" shout in the last page it was the mad Chinooks shooting - she wants to erase all Long Guns from existence, any "deviant" shard of herself goes as well.

Also the Oafans do not want to just destroy Chinook. They are containing and trying to reform her in the station itself rather than deleting. All three parties there want to reform her, the Oafans just don't know how to talk to her and are trying to give wrong orders on the matter.

The Oafans are kind of dicks.

From their perspective, I kinda get it. Someone stole their toys, is causing a metric fuckton of trouble with them, and it's not immediately apparent (particularly from their POV) how any of this is going to rectify the situation. It would probably help is someone spent the cycles needed to explain how any of this might actually help (granted, someone might have and they're not getting it, but still).
