Now, I know the common assumption is that that Shive is doing something sexual, but I don't see it. I mean, those poses are realistic, and the joke is clearly about the apples. Not EVERYTHING is sexual, god.

Read my stories!Boy, I sure hope something actually happens sometime soon in this comic.
Also Shive, how the hell are you making Grace of all people boring? She's always been at least mildly amusing!
Clearly, we need Ashley. She makes every comic better, after all.
Being serious though, I just wanna see more of Sam and Sarah. It’s so frustrating that we waited this long to see their date, and we hardly got anything. They have a really great dynamic, but Shive doesn’t care to explore it.
Geez, yeah. I can't believe this arc so far is making me regret wanting to see more Grace.
Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself.I'm having a good time.
I had to read the commentary to get the joke.
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise.I had to read the commentary, even after reading your post, to find out where the joke was.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Yeah, that confused the hell out of me until I saw the commentary. I wonder if I would have gotten it if he hadn't kept the word "counter" in.
My posts make considerably more sense read in the voice of John Ratzenberger.I... whuh... did we skip a comic or three? Wasn't Sarah talking to Justin last time we saw her? Wasn't Grace debating something completely pointless? How did we get from point A to point C?
I am so confused...
Last page has a "latter during the tournament" box in the first panel. It means some time have passed since Sarah was talking to Justin. Yes, Shive should have made it more obvious, probably with a establishing shot of the tournament last page or something.
Minor time skip, the night's tourney has started.
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise.Oh, hey, it really does. Missed it completely. Look at that.
That establishing shot woulda been good, yeah.

Oh wow yeah I missed that exposition too.
Read my stories!I was also confused.
Writer, or something. And... a button? 🖲️Determination.
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise.Nope, ya, this is definitely a fetish.
I would defend the comic and say that it isn't, but Shive's commentary sounds so much like he's searching for excuses to show that transformation up close that it's making it hard to defend him.
I'll simply say that since it clearly is kinda fetishy, at least from Shive's perspective, it's very poorly done fetishy art, since it isn't really portrayed in a very sexy or titillating (gods, I hate that word, but I can't for the life of me remember the one I wanted right now) manner. Hell, Elliot posing as a teacher in the last two comics was better fetishy art than that.

History says yes. He's straight up said he has a fetish for it, and has drawn it multiple times for the purpose.
Writer, or something. And... a button? 🖲️Shive is very prudishly fetishistic.
This is the same content posted years ago. Why are you guys unhappy about it now?
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans.I never said I was. Just pointing out the difference between the obviousness of this and the more disputed nature of the other strip.

Writer, or something. And... a button? 🖲️In my defense, I was unhappy about it back then too.
Read my stories!I don't really care either way. I just enjoy analyzing the art, and seeing how surprisingly prudish Shive can be while making the most openly fetishistic webcomic I've seen in a while. I find that really amazing.
Also, I remember I joined this discussion on the fetishy stuff because I was defending that the inflation scene a few comics back was not an example of an inflation fetish, which, again, falls into "analyzing the art" as I mentioned above.

Just so you know.
