So it's a been awhile since anything was posted, can we assume that the rumored third series was just a rumor then?
I hate to bump an old conversation but I wasn't a part of it, so forgive me.
I'd say the first half of Book 3 was also pretty episodic. Sure, there were some plot-important scenes or episodes there, but for the most part, it functions the same as the first half of Book 2.
It's been 3000 yearsβ¦I agree. I actually think I remember some complaints about that in online discussion way back when those episodes were airing.
Is that a controversial opinion? I enjoyed Season 3 a lot, but it's obvious the plot plot stuff really only gets focus in the later half, maybe even later quarter.
On the other hand, the episodic nature is something that really did help Avatar with the worldbuilding and characterization over that of the Legend of Korra.
Avatar has new projects moving forward with Avatar Studios doing a movie focused on Aang as an adult but at they will be a while yet, especially if they are effected by the strike.

I wish Korra could have given more focus to side characters, but I really don't miss the episodic structure. People forget how much of the one-off episodes of ATLA are standard kids show stuff.
Question; is it ironic that Appa only went to Ba Sing Se to find Aang, who was in Ba Sing Se to find Appa?
Not really. There were additional reasons why Aang and the Gaang went to Ba Sing Se. And Appa going to the biggest human settlement in the area just makes logical sense. And if he wasn't already going that way, Suki or Pathik would've pointed him that way.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyPathik did point him that way. That's why he went there.
That's part of the reason why I asked; Aang was told Appa was in Ba Sing Se, which he wasn't, and Appa only went to Be Sing Se because he was told Aang was there.

Given they still had the Day of the Black Sun stuff on them, Ba Sing Se seems like a mandatory stop at some point, even if not immediate.
Wake me up at your own risk.I updated my SCVI rendition of Korra, and here's also screenshots of Suki and Ty Lee. These were as close as I could get so far. I make my creations without modding.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyThanks. Korra was one of the first ones I did in 2021, but I just updated her over the weekend, using some of the tricks I've learned in the time since. She's still not quite what I'd like her to be (the fur on her skirt), but close enough.
I saw someone made a really good looking Lin Bei Fong recently.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI don't understand why they decided to write Bolin faking an injury and then setting up a picnic as if Opal's family wasn't imprisoned. Mayhaps a cringe comedy decision on the part of the writers? It still struck me as weird.

Random thought: Firebending is actually pretty interesting when you compare it to the other elements. All the things we consider firebending (normal firebending, lightningbending, Shooting Goddamn Lasers Out Of Your Forehead) are all things that are produced by the bender, rather then being reliant on the element being around.
It's not something you consider a restriction with the other elements because air, earth, and water are, to put it lightly, pretty damn common. But they're usually done in the form of manipulating the enviornment around them whereas Firebenders can just impose their will on the enviornment. There's no fire around? Look again. There ain't a storm around to take lightning from? I AM THE STORM (THAT IS APPROACHING)!
Which feels like it fits in with the Fire Nation being introduced as a imperialistic nation waging a hundred years war to conquer the rest of the elements and it's more industrial aesthetic. What the world is not willing to give, they will make and take.
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Technically if I remember right it does have a connection to their body heat, but that may be something of a mute point because nobody can bend anything if they freeze.
Solar energy is a factor too. To the point Firebending is weaker at night and is outright shut down during a solar eclipse.
Disgusted, but not surprisedGenerally ambient heat seems to be where they draw the fire from in a way? They do get stronger in Summer too I think, though that might be cause of the sun again. Their region is more volcanic as well?
Secret SignatureIt's also a bit of competitive balance — fire and lightning are not commonly found in the natural world. Firebenders would have to carry matches or sparks around to bend fire, which would put them at a huge disadvantage with other benders, and bending lightning would be damn near impossible, seeing how rare and powerful natural lighting is.
That was a complaint of the movie — they changed fire so it could only be bent from an outside source, which also severely weakened it.
Edit: On different news, the new Avatar game is out now;
And its new trailer makes it look as underwhelming as ever. They're not even using the original voice actors, damn it.

There was that one Combustion bender who was kept in an ice cold prison, so that seems to be the only means of limiting access to βfire.β
And that mainly works because most of them neglect the basics of "breathing".
Wake me up at your own risk. There's also the Boiling Rock, where solitary confinement for Firebenders is to put them in a freezer.
It's been 3000 yearsβ¦The Boiling Rock had "the cooler" cells to punish firebenders, and in the s1 finale, Iroh and Zuko discussed (and Zuko employed) breathing practices to maintain body heat necessary for bending.
As for P'li's cell in Korra, it wasn't only that her cell was in a frigid area, she also had to have her hands, eyes, and third eye completely bound so that she could not bend at all, and since she can arc her shots, her cell was far below the rest of the structure, which was kept at odd angles to make it harder for her to hit them.
The sad, REAL American dichotomy
I assume by "most shows" you mean "most children's cartoons". The age of serialized prestige tv was well underway by 2005.
2nd half of Book Two is the most serialized (it goes back to being more episodic in season three) but I still think, with the aid of the Previosuly On segment, a kid tuning could follow each episode. It's also still episodic in terms of character development.
