There's a fic out there that has Naruto basically be the same as orochimaru in that he has no gender as a result of using the Sexy Jutsu since he learned the Henge. And that, in a nod to the idea that Kitsune's turn into bueatiful women, his constant changing between the two has left his default self with no gender, as Kitsune themselves didn't have a gender and could take a male and female form whenever they wanted.

The inciting incident is super dumb but the core concept is interesting. Sadly, the chance that it was properly explored is basically nil.

I haven’t been on this forum for a while. After rereading parts of the story all at once instead of a weekly basis, has anyone’s opinion of Naruto improved? There are certainly parts that suck regardless (ex. Kaguya), but Sasuke and Obito, for example, don’t bother me nearly as much as they did before.

I never thought the finale of the series was terrible, and Boruto is actually a lot better in terms of writing for the next generation, IMO.

I still think Obito is just the worst. Uchihas in general really grind my gears.

I still think the last third is godawful, but as a whole I'm not as down on it as I once was . The Uchihas are still though.

It mainly felt bad due to the emotional investment, but even now most of everything after Naruto defeats Nagato ranges from uninteresting to bad.

The anime is pretty legit terrible.

Watching it on Toonami, this weeks episode was Sakura's bungled attempt at killing Sauce & being rescued by Boruto's Dad.

With the extremely sluggish pacing, constant repeats of flashbacks you've seen a million times over, & the filler of course (for the record its gonna take over 5 years for Toonami to actually finish Naruto & its getting Boruto next month), the anime is quite frankly unwatchable.

No, Boruto doesn't arrive until next month, presumably replacing Pop Team Epic.

If that's true, and the anime is packed with so many filler episodes, then they need to start airing it more than once a week. The pacing is godawful enough as is already, and the amount of flashbacks to insignificant incidents not only fails to add any depth to the characters but just proves the animators were desperately trying to pad out the season as much as possible.

And the Sasuke x Sakura thing... Jeez, I've heard stories about why she's so hated and just assumed that it was the typical whiny fanbase sort of gripe, but now I finally understand. She's obsessed with the dude, and I won't be surprised if she one day ends up dead by his hands in the new Boruto series.

The flashbacks also end up showing just how bad the whole relationship is.

Cause all the flashbacks have been about Sakura's relationship with Sasuke & all the clips basically highlight just how nonexistent their relationship actually is.

Absolutely none of Sasuke's part 1 interactions that were shown imply any form of even the barest attraction to Sakura at all. At best he tolerates her & doesn't mind her company but that's it, making Sakura's obsession with him insanity.

Combined with the anime's repetition due to padding, her constantly going "Oh Sasuke why is this happening, when did I fall in love with you, why did this have to happen, why am I in love with you, etc" & your liable to gouge out your own brain.

I'd say that it had a bit more going for it than Sock Sauce. At least Naruto never tried to kill Hinata and went absolutely fucking apeshit when it looked like Pain killed her.

Naruto actually showed genuine concern for Hinata.

As for Sasuke and Sakura? Their relationship was toxic at best, but I guess he did "value" her from a perspective "you're my teammate so I have to tolerate you." But that's about it.

The only good thing to come out of that relationship was Sarada, who is far and away Best Uchiha. Rather inexplicably, considering what she's got to work with.

Yeah, their marriage defies all logic and only happened, just so Sasuke and Sakura could have a kid together. In all honesty, Sakura's so-called love for him has remained always on a crush level and hasn't matured from there.

Remember when she was willing to betray her country and become a missing-nin just to stay with him? Or when she told Ino she didn't want to be friends anymore because they both liked the same guy? Or when she lied to Naruto and knocked out a group of her allies just because she wanted to be alone when she confronted Sasuke? Or when she destroyed her house in rage because her daughter asked about him? Good times.

Seriously, I don't know why everyone acts like Sasuke is abusing her when she's the one who always acts awful over him.

Remember when Sasuke tried to stab his fist through her face, knocked her out with a vision of him impaling her, tried to blow her up with a bolt of lightning, planned to destroy her home village and kind of up and abandoned his daughter to the point he didn't recognize her seven years later?

Not really sure Sakura's sins are even equal here.

Remember how they were in a relationship for none of that, and in fact were active enemies and she attacked and tried to kill him as well?
