YMMV / Troubleshooter: Abandoned Children

  • Demonic Spiders: Bicrons, especially when you first encounter them. As robots, they can't use the cover mechanic, but they make up for it with incredibly high durability, to the tune of taking 5-10 times more damage to take down than a similar level human foe. They do enormous damage, enough to one-shot squishier characters, and hit in an AOE that can easily kill multiple lined-up fighters. They're mobile and highly agressive, so they won't hesitate to flank your characters and gun them down out of nowhere. To top it all off, they reactively run away every time they take a hit, which makes it almost impossible to dogpile and kill them without exposing units to flanking attacks.
  • Goddamn Bats:
    • Anything with the Impulse Fields mastery. As long as they have 50%+1 hit points remaining, they will only take a maximum of 50% of their maximum health in damage from any single attack. It also becomes nearly ubiquitous in later levels.
    • Any grenade-wielding enemy, most commonly seen with Spoonist Firebombers. They take all of the useful parts of Ray (high-accuracy attacks that can hit in an area, expertise at laying down status effects and hazardous terrain) and turn it on the player. Just one or two can quickly make the battlefield impossible to navigate, and a group of them can whittle down your units’ HP with alarming speed.
    • Juvenile Yashas can’t attack and have pitiful HP, but they have incredibly high Dodge stats and often carry the Lightning Reflexes mastery, making them immune to Action Initiative abilities and likely to avoid most other attacks besides. In early hunting missions they’re hard to pin down as they rush towards an exit point, and later on they do a great job of clogging up the field as their tougher brethren move into position.
