• Ass Pull: Gwen's elimination. The fact that her allergy that caused her to lose the tie-breaker wasn't foreshadowed even in the episode where it was used up until her tie-breaker challenge with Courtney as well as how the episode kept hinting that it would be the latter that got eliminated, it's pretty clear that the decision to have her be the one booted was likely a very last minute one.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Gwen's elimination could've easily avoided the Ass Pull aspect mentioned above. Courtney could have just performed better in the tie-breaker, with no need for Plot Allergy.
  • Alternatively, Gwen could have been eliminated via a regular vote. Instead of voting for Courtney, Heather could've been the deciding vote for Gwen. While she could have still genuinely wanted to side with Gwen over Courtney due to the latter throwing challenges and her jealousy of Alejandro flirting with the latter, she could have strategized more, realizing that it's better for her to get rid of Gwen. After all, if Gwen had stayed and the merge didn't happen soon enough, Cody and Gwen would stick together, meaning Heather's only option would be to vote for Gwen with Sierra due to the latter's jealousy of her, risking a tie-breaker, which wouldn't even be guaranteed, considering how Sierra voted in "The Am-AH-Zon Race". Meanwhile, Heather would need Courtney to stay to use her as a hate shield, as can be proved in the next episode where all of her teammates want to eliminate Courtney over the typically targeted Heather. If Heather had realized that and changed her vote last-minute, this could have also provided for an interesting shock value for the audience. Optionally, Cody could have also simply recovered by the time of the vote, allowing him to vote for Courtney as he wanted, making Heather's vote even more of the deciding one.
