• Heartwarming Moments: The story is filled with them. Some highlights include:
  • Twilight's mental "Friendship" file cabinet. Every time she meets a new member of the Mane Six, she mentally files a new card (color-coded to the pony she has befriended). It's merely cute until she meets Rainbow Dash.
  Most trusted of friends?
  Twilight checked her filing cabinet. It had become significantly less dusty over the course of the last two weeks. There she found a rainbow file, sitting happily next to the orange and pink.
  The tricky pegasus had snuck it in there when she wasn't looking. Figured.
  • Luna and Twilight's romance, period. A relationship that starts with a telescope, progresses to messages sent in Morse code via Giant Death Ray, and ends with Twilight making a trip to the moon in a rocket ship that she and her friends invented an entire industry to design and build to rescue Luna from her solitude. When they finally meet face to face, Twilight is about ready to propose on the spot - and Luna would have accepted before she even finished making the request.
  • Rainbow and Pinkie. Both incredibly energetic - even manic - in their own ways, and yet they still manage to be a source of calm and comfort to each other. Pinkie in particular notices that her prior bouts of madness and depression are never a problem as long as Dash is nearby. By the story's end they have become so close it would not be a leap to imagine them being married.
• Tear Jerker: Quite a few.
  • In this continuity, Fluttershy runs an unofficial orphanage, but it's actually more than that. Twilight discovers that each and every one of the foals living there has been disfigured in some form of industrial accident due to child exploitation - one of those foals is Scootaloo. Guess what disability she has?
  • Twilight decides she wants to help Fluttershy's wards by providing a free education for the foals so that they can once again be contributing members of society. Rather than take up the offer immediately, Fluttershy takes Twilight up to a room where another of the foals, Meadowgrass (who had just finished baking a cake for everyone and was heavily implied to have tuberculosis) is lying in bed. Fluttershy sings her a lullaby, except she doesn't go to sleep - she dies while Fluttershy and Twilight watch. And then Fluttershy explains that every single one of the foals she takes in off the streets is going to die relatively soon, and her only job is to make it as easy as possible because they literally have nothing else to look forward to. Holy shit.
