• Tear Jerker:
  • Bernd, who's been such a Nice Guy and spent quite some time sympathizing with the hostages and entertaining them, gets shot in the head by his own officer for refusing to kill the hostages. Jacques inherits his clown nose and performs a clown act every year since then.
  • The station master's Heroic Sacrifice, deciding to take the blame for the attack. The Germans take him out of his hospital bed and shoot him dead.
