• Captain Obvious Reveal: Cal Hudson is vocal to Sisko about his dissatisfaction with how the treaty was handled, how the Federation colonists had to give up their land to the Cardassians, and is very sympathetic to those living in the Demilitarized Zone. When Sisko asks if he knows about any terrorist groups organizing, Hudson claims he knows nothing but admits that if there were people organizing, he thinks they have every right to do so. It should come as absolutely no surprise when the end of the episode reveals he's working with the Maquis.
• Continuity Lock-Out: The establishment of the Demilitarized Zone and the new Federation-Cardassian Treaty occurred over on TNG's ''Journey's End''. Cal Hudson's exposition outlines the broad strokes, but DS9-only viewers will miss some of the additional context without the TNG episode.
