• Paranoia Fuel: The scenes at Brunswick Farms are loaded with this. Not only do we discover that the farmers died en masse in their beds, but we then see Weiss and Yang get drowsy and say negative things they don't mean - indicating that whatever killed the farmers is starting to affect the heroes.
• Shocking Moments: After a two-volume absence, with not so much a single mention in-between, fans were beginning to think Neo would never come back at all. They were proven wrong.
• Squick: The two people Weiss and Yang discover dead in their bed. Their bodies have already started decomposing, but the cold air has instead caused them to look mummified, with sunken eyes and caved in cheeks, as if the life was sucked out of them.
