  • Alternate Character Interpretation:
    • Is Cainen truly in love with Asarella, or is he addicted to how human she makes him feel? He ponders this toward the end of the manga, uncertain whether he was ever in love with her.
    • Is Rea genuinely in love with Cainen or is she just infatuated with the way he looks and spurred by the fact that he doesn't immediately fall for her beauty like so many others? Rea claims she loves him to death, but whenever she talks about him she only mentions his beautiful appearance.
  • Base-Breaking Character: Asarella tends to be a divisive character among the readership of the manhwa. For some, she is a sweet, clever, brave and pure-hearted girl who gets broken by the corrupt world she lives in, and yet still maintains her loving nature. To others, she is an insufferable, frustratingly indecisive Mary Sue who somehow attracts all the major male characters for no discernable reason, and who gets into trouble because she's too impulsive to think about the consequences of her actions.
  • Ho Yay: Cainen grabs Elihue by the hair and kisses him in Chapter 5, out of revenge (the kiss gives Elihue a nasty cold).
    • Rakin outright kisses Cainen full on the mouth when he visits his castle in the prequel.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Belials can't die, even if they want to. They are condemned to a life of endless boredom, loneliness and regular bouts of insanity, and they can't love anyone outside their own race without the pain of losing them forever.
    • The scene where Elihue comes close to raping Asarella is terrifying.
    • The Demon Lord of the Underworld taking a bite out of Asarella's arm.
    • The Demon Lord worshippers performing mass sacrifices for Cainen in the prequel, including the graphic murder of a baby, which Cainen eats. Made so much worse by the fact that he did not ask for them, and they're essentially pointless.
    • Baby Yorg being forced to survive on the corpse of his dead mother in order to become strong enough to get out of the chasm they fell into.
  • Squick: Some people find Elihue's attraction for his adoptive daughter gross and inappropriate.
    • Rea's father kisses a thirteen year old Asarella full on the mouth on the Lover's Bridge. Cainen destroys the bridge out of jealousy that he wasn't the first to kiss Asarella, completely ignoring the fact that she had no say in what happened.
  • The Woobie: Asarella has the misfortune of being a pure-hearted girl who attracts men of very questionable moral fiber and with extremely selfish desires and motives. First her father figure demands she marry him or be banished, then the Demon Lord who she thought had a kind heart blackmails her into sleeping with him, and she gets dragged into Elihue's and Cainen's conflicts. She just wanted to help everyone around her, but it always brought her trouble.
