YMMV / Man Like Mobeen

• Bizarro Episode: Tonally, S01E03 "Upper Room" doesn't fit in with other episodes. Compared to some of the absurdist views of working-class life in Small Heath, this episode is a horror-mystery which keeps the viewers guessing whether Dadha Hussein murdered his second wife. He didn't. The freezer is full of porn videos.
• Crosses the Line Twice: Several terrorism-related jokes are made through the series:
  • In "Wifey Riddim," Uncles Habib and Shady laugh at the notion of considering Mobeen for a son-in-law.
    Uncle Habib: I'd rather she did a suicide bombing.
    Uncle Shady: I will put the vest on her myself.
    Mobeen: Fucking hell...
  • In "Prom Night," when the "fade drought" happens.
    Aqsa: Kid over there says if he doesn't get a fade in the next 24 hours, he's joining ISIS.
    Mobeen: Yeah, not even they'll let him in with a haircut like that.
  • Lydia gently ribs Mobeen on his choice of outfit, calling it a "Taliban Tarek" look.
• The Woobie: Eight. He always seems to get the short end of the stick. His grandfather dies in the first season. Although he's... weird, to put it lightly, the other characters ridicule and make fun of him to no end (at one point, they play an especially cruel prank on him by pretending they've found his real dad). He is beaten up by some thugs as a means to send a message to Mobeen in the season two finale, and at the end of season three, he is shot twice and killed for the same reason. It's hard not to feel sorry for him.
