• The Woobie:
  • Pépinot is a young boy whose parents disappeared during the war. He waits at the school gates for his father to pick him up. He is also bullied by Mondain, who demands money to let him into the dormitory.
  • Mathieu becomes beloved by the kids as he changes their lives through music, but he ends up fired because the strict headmaster doesn't approve of his methods.
