Alas, Poor Scrappy: Sid is a Base-Breaking Character at best nowadays and his reputation among viewers was even worse at the time of the episode's airing, but one would be hard pressed to find a viewer who didn't feel at least a little sorry for him after he got mugged for his boots.
Alternative Character Interpretation: Did Monkeyman not help Sid because his introduction to high society had turned him apathetic? Or did he genuinely not notice him being mugged?
