  • Anvilicious:
    • The comic is decent enough, but occasionally gets preachy about how the creator seems to perceive a good chunk of gamers as sexist, misogynistic and homophobic. Dallas even refers to her enemy as the patriarchy, and talk about how she only got a chance because she pretended to be a man. There are sexist gamers out there but they are a minority. A vast majority of gamers don't care about what gender people are, as long as they want to play. A lot of people have trouble getting games and groups together. Boy or girl, if you're willing to play, you'll no doubt be welcome. If someone make a good product, it will be well liked, regardless of the creator's gender. The comic started when TTRPGs were more niche, before D&D 5e was even out, and many gamers have had bad experiences with sexism or homophobia.
    • Everything about Phillip Dove. The man is less an antagonist and more a cartoony caricature of a minute minority in any community (not just gaming). He's a strawman. People like Phil are not liked by anybody, yet he pulls enough weight to screw Dallas' work with his reviews. On top of that he cheats.
  • Ass Pull:
    • Sam's brother Lee working with Philip Dove against him and the Dragon's Den with Game Haus. While we never actually got to see a lot of him before this point, there was nothing to suggest any kind of enmity between them. Collaborating with his known enemy to run the Dragon's Den, the store his father started and Sam is now running, out of business, generally seems to come completely out of left field.
    • Lee offering to boot Phil if Sam agreed to work with him was equally unexpected after the reveal of them opening Game Haus. When you have so little characterization beforehand, come in and opening a competing store, saying you want to destroy your father's legacy, with the owner's arch-nemesis, it doesn't make you look like a good guy. They hit you twice with it. But it's effective nonetheless.
