The Rake is a Genestealer and The Family are it's Cult
- Both here and in Everyman HYBRID the Rake greatly resembles a Tyranid Genestealer (albeit with one two less arms but this could be a mutation) and the way it has gathered a cult around it in the form of The Family is very similar to the modus operandi of Genestealers.
- The Rake (or the Speaker as The Family calls it) is said to be trying to merge it's reality with our own. Clearly this Genestealer fell through a Warp Rift ending up on early 21st Century Earth. In the process it gained the ability to slip in and out of the Warp. It's true goal is to create a psychic signal loud enough for the Hive Mind to hear several galaxies away and bring them to the Milky Way ahead of schedule.
Leading on from the above, The Knife and The Book and the other artefacts are in fact Chaos Artefacts
- The Rake needs them to carry out it's plan.
