The Ancient Lights share an origin with the Beast.

Both claim to be from a universe that existed before the current one and both can inflict that universe's rules on ours. Also in that episode the Beast states he was defeated and imprisoned by "the Disciples of the Light." Perhaps the Ancient Lights were the enemy that imprisoned him.
