Ash's pistol

The homemade pistol Ash carries has sentimental value to the original Shadow Ash, hence why he started with something that relatively amateurish. Since flashbacks confirm that Ash's father used a pistol, it may be that this is the same pistol, repaired as a memento of sorts, or it could have been an unconventional father/son bonding project that Ash decided to finish.
