Akira's father is Junichiro 'Juni' Maki
Though Akira describes him a con artist, we only really have his word, which could have been influenced by what his own mother told him of his father. It could be that he is in fact a member of Tatterdemalion, a group which does work outside the law. Further evidence to support this theory happens in one chapter when Juni happens to see the quiz show that Akira and Makoto appear on, and briefly feels he recognizes Akira. The leader of the Dragon Syndicate is Kunikazu Okumura
We have yet to see either character appear on the page, and Okumura is mentioned as being constantly away from home on vague business deals. In this AU, Okumura Foods could represent the Syndicate's attempt to go straight, which Kaneshiro reviles so much that he starts a yakuza war.
