I know highly unlikely but it could happen like this
Years ago Connor's mom got drunk during a night on the town while on vacation, the same night, Ed, who was on assignment in the same city, got drugged by an aphrodisiac. The next morning the two woke up and panicked for a second before agreeing never to speak of it again, it wasn't like they were ever going to meet up again. Connor's mom told his dad, and when they discovered she was pregnant he said he'd claim to be the father. When Ed shows up, she totally recognizes him, but he doesn't recognize her.
