Hey there. I'm an animation junky who likes to read fanfics, fantasy and science-fiction and play Role-Playing Games. I'm mostly interested in Character Pages since I always look for good characterization over world building, but that stuff is cool too. In fact, I'm a semi-prolific world builder myself and been doing it for fun for the past 6 years or so.

I'm a long time Wiki editor and have founded the Legend Quest Encyclopedia and MLPwiki.net

Main Characters

     Spike the Dragon
The Hero of the fanfic and all-around Nice Guy. Spike is older now, more mature but also angry at life for his situation.

  • Act of True Love: Spike claimed he would die before he ever hurts Twilight. Given his fierce loyalty and genuine, brotherly love he feels towards her, it's pretty clear he isn't lying.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Well, he's not really a jerk, but he is pretty grumpy and angry over his situation. He's someone whose to big to do what he used to love, with those he loves, and was bitter over the fact that he would outlive is friends by thousands of years. He mellows out considerably as he comes to grips with his situation, and especially after a thought-provoking conversation with Princess Luna over his long-living status. As for the 'Heart of Gold' part, Spike retains much of his gentle, sweet, kind and caring personality from the show, as well as some of his playful-yet-impish and friendly side. He's also really helpful and wants to dedicate much of his free time to just helping the ponies of Ponyville with various activities, such as letting non-Pegasi fly on his back and help keep the workload at Sweet Apple Acres manageable.
  • Like Brother and Sister:
    • Twilight insist that she's Spike's loving older sister and does everything in her power to help him through his hard situation, but has had to lay down the law when Spike was getting a little to caught up in his own self-pity. Despite him being much, much bigger then her, he looks up to her and never doubts her position as the bigger sibling.
    • He has a close, brother-sister relationship with the Mane Six as well. They all go out of their way to help Spike through his situation, calm him down when he's stressed or freaking out and teach him how to make the most of his new abilities. They also defend him against the protesters and even Razorfang, who could quite literally crush them if he wanted too. Rarity and Fluttershy also dote on the "little" guy and the group as a whole tried their best to cheer him up when he was having such an awful week.
    • He's also very close to the former-Cutie Mark Crusaders, Sweetie Belle, Apple Bloom and Scootaloo. Scootaloo helped teach Spike how to fly, while the trio helped stand up for Spike from ponies who thought he was a monster. They bicker quite a bit, but it's always in a friendly, back-and-fourth way, never malicious or angry and it's clear they care about each other a lot.
  • Big Brother Mentor:
    • Big Mac is this to Spike. The stallion decided to help Spike learn how to control his strength and eventually started to help him with his finesse. The two quickly grow a very strong friendship and Spike was overjoyed when Big Mac found love in the form of Fluttershy.
    • A gender-reversed example, but he has this relationship with Rainbow Dash and to a lesser extent, Scootaloo too. They both help Spike through his flying exercises and often him friendly, sisterly support when he needs it.
  • Nice Guy: Spike is caring, friendly (when he's in a good mood), warm and affectionate. It's clear he loves his friends and they love him, and there's a reason why half of Ponyville, including strangers, are willing to fight tooth and nail for his rights as a rightful citizen of Equestria.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: Oh man, poor Spike. No matter what he does, he's almost always hated by a certain group. Lampshaded in Chapter 14:
Spike:That's not fair. I don't want to die. I've been carrying on because if I did anything else I think I'd go completely doolally. I've been building my house, training, helping out, even going to the Grand Galloping Gala for publicity purposes.
  • I Just Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Spike is heartbroken when Rarity starts to date Fancy Pants, but he's able to quickly compose himself. All he wants is for Fancy Pants to treat Rarity well. Although their relationship ends up not working out, it's implied Filthy Rich did treat Rarity very nicely and the two remained good friends years later.
  • Now, Let Me Carry You: A running theme throughout the story, more or less.
    • Spike's overall "endgame" is to basically achieve a status where he can help out just about anyone with his dragon abilities, and use his long-lived status to chronicle the history of Ponyville in every detail, from its ever-changing citizens to the crazy events that transpire. He especially wants to help out at Sweet Apple Acres for how kind and helpful they've been to him throughout his life.
    • Happens literally when Spike carries Twilight home, as he reminisces about how he used to love riding on Twilight's back, and how safe, protected and peaceful he felt, saying that they always found a way home, no matter the situation. Awwww...
    • Spike helps Granny Smith by pushing out a giant boulder that's been blocking out a stream of water for decades, if not centuries. This ends up biting him in the ass later, but Granny Smith stands by Spike through thick and thin, calling him family.
    • After all the help, care, love and support Spike's many friends in Ponyville showed him, Spike finally made it up to them by protecting them against Razorfang, who was going to destroy the entire town just to get a reaction out of Spike.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Spike has a playful, argument and banter-filled relationship with the (former) Cutie Mark Crusaders, usually acting a little grumpy or standoffish towards them, but also greatly admires them and it's clear he cares deeply for them, as they care for him. Once Spike mellows out, they become generally more friendly.
  • Big Little Brother: With Twilight, occasionally Lampshaded by others too.
Scoop Headlines: He's not even an adolescent yet, and he can't fit through the door. His 'big' sister is three times smaller than him. He's the most efficient predator in Equestria, and he doesn't eat meat. He's lived his whole life amongst ponies and not his own kind, and he's desperate to keep it that way. But by far the strongest impression one takes away from meeting Spike, Ponyville's resident dragon, is one of love and hope.
  • Knight in Sour Armor: Downplayed, but it's there. A good portion of Equestria's society does treat Spike like a monster to be ahem "dealt with", whether by peaceful means or violence, but an equal part of the world see's Spike for what he really us, a good guy just wanting to live his life and help out others whenever he can.

     Twilight Sparkle
  • Adaptational Sexuality: Twilight is revealed to be a lesbian, or at least bi in the epilogue, as she started a loving relationship with Trixie.
  • Cool Big Sis: She frequently refers to Spike as her brother, and her as his sister and openly tells him that she loves him. She goes out of her way to make sure Spike is happy and tries her best to keep him calm. She's also very protective over him, despite him being so much larger and stronger than her.
  • Like Brother and Sister: She maintains a loving relationship with Spike as his older sister figure, but is also willing to scold Spike or lay down the authority when he does something wrong.
Twilight Sparkle: Spike is my little brother, and I love him, I would never hurt him!
Spike: Twilight is my big sister, and I love her! I would die before I hurt her!
  • Big Sister Instinct: She is very protective over Spike's well being.

Original Characters

     Scoop Headlines
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: He may seem like a sniveling, self-centered reporter who only cares about a good story at first, but it's quickly revealed that Scoop is a pretty nice guy who cares about accuracy over what would be popular. He's shown to care about Spike's well-being too, and makes an article about Spike's positive qualities, such as his hopeful and loving nature rather then tae the easy way out and write him as a monster who'll eat fillies.
