• Ascended Fanon
  • Nami Mizuno, the former Cure Scorpio that appears in the 4th episode, is a fan created Cure made by a friend of the author's. The author had initially planned to use an entirely different character for Scorpio, but liked it so much she had to use it.
  • In episode 19 of PCBE, Fumie mentions having initially been slated to go to Etoile Academy, only to end up going to Atama Academy instead. Over on Tumblr, the author realized the physical similarities of Fumie and Ibuki, and started headcanoning them as cousins, only for PCBE's author to also agree with the headcanon, and the two decided to make it canon.
• Schedule Slip: Nearly 2/3 through the fic, there was a lengthy hiatus. Fortunately, the author was able to finish the story.
• Throw It In!: Scorpio but a much more relevant example is Naori - she was never planned to Face-Heel so soon - her return to the side of good was slated for the end of the fic. As the author was writing episode 6, they realized the story had taken a sharp turn - and decided to ride it out.
• What Could Have Been:
  • Before Starshine focused just on the Western Zodiac, the initial plans for the story involved the Eastern Zodiac vs the Western Zodiac.
  • Naori originally did not exist as a character, and her initial appearance to the Cures (as a villain) wasn't supposed to happen until the mid-arc.
  • A character named Isao was supposed to document the team as they emerged and an episode was supposed to be devoted to the girls protecting their identities.
  • Mei initially quit as a Precure after her mother found out about the team. She quits for several episodes, only rejoining after Sumire's awakening.
  • There was supposed to be an episode after Mei's rejoining where Ushio falls sick because she had to pick up the slack and Sumire and Mei take care of her.
  • The episode about Ibuki being targeted by Cebalrai was actually supposed to be about Ushio struggling with the fact she might have to move away if her parents divorce.
