Trivia / Stargate SG-1 S4 E6 "Window of Opportunity"

Go To

  • Enforced Method Acting: A variation with the beloved 'Golfing through the Gate' sequence. According to the DVD Commentary, the production team initially had serious concerns about RDA and Christopher Judge actually physically golfing on set. They were justifiably afraid the golf ball might go off course and end up damaging the very expensive ($100K) Stargate prop. There were discussions about using a CGI ball before ultimately deciding actual physical golfing would be more practical and realistic.
    • Assuming the effects department got it right when adding in the event horizon, Richard Dean Anderson nearly did hit the gate prop if you pay attention to the ripples in the event horizon and where the actual ball goes.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: The now-iconic 'You Can Get Away With Anything in a Time Loop' sequence According to episode co-writer Joseph Mallozzi, the montage only came about because the episode's initial cut was running short and it needed extra scenes. Brad Wright also signed off on the sequence partly for the 'Golfing through the Gate' bit (as it was a joke he'd wanted to put into the show since the early days of its run).
  • What Could Have Been: Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie's pitch was originally much darker. It was Robert C. Cooper who suggested a more comedic tone (and Mallozzi has conceded Cooper's insight was right on this one).
