• First Appearance: Of Joe Kagan, black ex-boxer turned pig farmer in Walnut Grove.
• Keep Circulating the Tapes: Because this episode was 90 minutes, it's rarely shown in syndication (as most stations/networks only air episodes whose run times are in multiples of 60 minutes).
• On-Set Injury: Alison Arngrim tells, in her book "Confessions of a Prairie Bitch" that she and Melissa Gilbert were to film a scene where Laura imagined herself having a boxing match with Nellie wearing giant-sized boxing gloves. Unfortunately, the gloves made it hard for them to know when to pull their punch so as to not hit one another for real and at one point, Gilbert swung and hit Arngrim in the nose so hard they initially thought it was broken (thankfully it wasn't).
• You Look Familiar: Ketty Lester plays Joe's wife in a flashback sequence; she would later join the recurring cast in season 5 as Hester Sue Terhune, who runs a blind school that merges with Adam and Mary's former Winoka school.
