- Dawson Casting: The two Morton daughters are teenagers and yet Katie Sheridan (Sophie) was twenty and Victoria Longley (Emma) was eighteen. Though Emma did avert this trope initially as the pilot was filmed back in 2004 when she was 16.

- A Working Title was 'You Wish', until they realized there had already been a short-lived American sitcom with that name which also just happened to be about a genie.
- A feature film trilogy was announced in 2010, planned to be filmed in 3-D, but it was never made.
