• Dueling Shows: Lyrics waged a war with NBC's The Singing Bee, which was a competitive Minigame Game played for a relatively smaller prize, and a lot less cliche. FOX even pushed up the premiere of Lyrics to try and beat Bee to air, but ended up being beaten by just one day. Ultimately, Lyrics lasted several seasons and then went to syndication, and Bee was canned after one season on NBC (but got Un-Cancelled by CMT).
• Real Song Theme Tune: "China Grove" by the Doobie Brothers on the original Fox version. Yes, it actually turned up in a TV Themes category once. The syndicated version used a Suspiciously Similar Song, while the 2022 version uses an entirely new theme.
