• The Other Darrin: In keeping with the Waltons franchise's longstanding tradition of replacing unavailable actors, Teddy Sears replaces Ben Lawson in the role of John Walton Sr and Donovan Elmore replaces Zachary Conner as Claudie Dooly.
• Role Reprise: Besides all the returning cast from The Waltons Homecoming, the film also has Richard Thomas from the original Waltons series technically reprising his role as John Boy; he narrates the film as an adult.
