  • A mysterious super race splits off in evolution, creating humans and merfolk.

  • The civilization of Atlantis is destroyed by a massive airship manned by a warring faction who hides it in Japan.

5620 BC

  • Queen Hedrian is born.

2600 BC

  • The Great Pyramids of Giza are built.

1184 BC

  • The Achaeans break the 10-year seige of Troy using a giant wooden horse, finally ending the Trojan War. The Trojan Horse would eventually be adopted as an infiltration tactic by several factions centuries later.

3000 Years Ago

  • The Denzian warriors Mega, Proto, Guts, Glyde, and Roll successfully defeat the barbaric space warrior Demon King Banriki and banish him from the planet.
  • The Vader Clan sends Umitsular to Planet Denzi, where he corrupts the water leading to the planet's destruction. A demon-exorcising melody is created in an effort to force back the Vader Clan, but the planet becomes doomed before it can be completed. The few Denzians that remain make plans to go to Earth in immigration. Knowing the Vader Clan would eventually follow them to finish the job, they create technology to counter the Vader Monsters by tapping into the Bio-Field.
  • The suriving Denzians travel to Earth on a flying landmass called Denzi Land, filled with technology designed to fight the Vader Clan, including the Denzi Dog IC. When they arrive on Earth, they receive a friendly welcome from the humans and eventually interbreed with them, which would lead to many in modern day Japan having Denzian DNA.
  • Princess Denzi, upon returning from a space voyage, finds her home planet destroyed but notices the missing Denzi Land. She and her royal entourage follow it to Earth, where they learn everything that happened. Princess Denzi has Mega, Proto, Guts, Glyde, and Roll use their genetic signature to direct IC in who to choose to become the future Denzimen, and gifts her greatest treasure, the Rainbow Stone, to her friend and handmaiden Claire to protect for generations. One of the Denzians starts passing down the metal record containing the demon-exorcising melody.

500 BC

  • The earliest known Nazca Lines are created.

2000 Years Ago

  • In Ancient Greece, the Spartans use codes made of scattered characters or ciphers which can be deciphered when read following a certain pattern.

5th Century

  • Arthur Pendragon begins his reign as King of the Britons. One legend claims he was actually a woman disguised as a man.

906

  • The Ancient Mayans build El Caracol, an observatory aligned to follow the movements of the planet Venus throughout the year.

  • The earliest surviving account of the oni Shuten Doji is written.

15th Century

  • A meteorite falls to Earth and is found by Jubei Kuroshio's pirate ancestors, who put it in a treasure chest and hide it in Yonago. It won't be discovered for another five hundred years.
  • The story of Urashima Taro is first named.

  • Hideyoshi Toyotomi takes a host of golden treasure, worth 9 trillion yen by 1976, out of Osaka Castle and buries it in the Tada silver mine.

  • The Piri Reis map is compiled by an Ottoman cartographer.

  • Construction of Matsuyama Castle begins.
  • The story of Momotaro is first put into writing.

  • The oldest lighthouse in Japan is built in the Noko Peninsula.

  • Matsuyama Castle nears completion with a five-story pagoda.

1615

  • In the first year of the Genna era, the Osaka Summer Campaign takes place, seeing the defeat of the Toyotomi army. In order to rebuild, they move their treasure from Tada to Matsuyama in Shikoku, burying it under Mount Ishizuchi. The Kimon Tonkou code to the treasure is left on a golden statue which comes into the possession of the Nakabayashi family.

1635

  • In the twelfth year of the Kan'ei era, Matsuyama Castle's tower is remodeled to three stories.

1642

  • The new keep of Matsuyama Castle is completed.

1721

  • Mary Read dies in prison, while her partner Anne Bonny disappears after being freed.

1760

  • The Industrial Revolution begins, but brings with it a period of heavy pollution that nearly wipes out the merfolk race due to water and air contamination. It would be many decades before the damage to Earth would be undone by cleaner technologies.

1880

  • The last known time the deadly nectar-producing crimson flower blossomed.

  • Nintendo Company releases their first set of Western playing cards.

  • Tarzan of the Apes first debuts in the pulp magazine The All-Story.

1915

  • A mansion is built over a portal to the mysterious fourth dimension. The original owner discovers the portal and uses it to stash a fortune in gold koban. The mansion would eventually be bought by Mr. Kanasugi.

1922

  • A team of archaeologists discover the tomb of the Pharaoh Tutankhamen in Egypt. A number of them will die over the following years, supposedly from the "Curse of Tutankhamen", which might have actually been a dormant flesh-eating bacteria.

1926

  • Upon the death of the emperor Yoshihito, also known as "Taisho", his son Hirohito becomes Japan's new emperor, marking the beginning of the "Showa period" of Japanese history.

1930

  • Banriki goes into a deep slumber while drifting through space.

1934

  • The Yomiuri Giants baseball team is founded.

1936

  • The novel Gone With the Wind is published.

1938

  • Action Comics debuts with the world's first fictional superhero, Superman.

1939

  • World War II begins.

1940

  • Japan sides with Nazi Germany as part of the Axis Powers.

  • As instructed by Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, a massive genocide known as the Holocaust occurs in which 11 million people, including 6 million Jews, are exterminated in concentration camps throughout Europe.
  • Japanese air forces attack Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, convincing the United States to join the Allied Forces against the Axis Powers.

1944

  • The Japanese army dredges a harbor in Thailand to use as a naval base and underground shelter.
  • Birth of Sofiya "Balalaika" Pavlovna (Battle Cossack).

1945

  • A secret unit of the Japanese Army hides a deadly venom called Hamato X among the 34 Temples of Chichibu.
  • The cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are hit with the first ever nuclear bombs, Little Boy and Fat Man.
  • World War II ends.
  • Art collector Henry Nishinotouin buys all of the paintings of ukiyo-e artist Kunimaru Kiyokawa.

1946

  • The Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union begins.

  • Birth of Jotaro Kujo (Kirenger).

  • Sonny Rollings starts making a name for himself as a jazz saxophonist.
  • Birth of Yugi Muto (Akarenger).

1950

  • Fujinami Hakun, master of the Kizuten style, banishes Ikkaku Oni from the dojo for his insistence on fighting in an unfair manner. In defiance, Ikkaku Oni creates the Jashin style in an effort to counter the Kizuten.
  • C.S. Lewis publishes The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.

  • The Japanese naval base in Thailand is turned into a haven for pirates and criminals. The new city is named Roanapur.
  • Machiko Furukawa's husband dies, leaving her childless.

1963

  • Bidamalar's egg somehow winds up lost from Vader Castle, crashing to Earth and hatching. With his memory lost, Bidamalar takes on the form of a human baby, and is quickly adopted by Machiko as Shunsuke Furukawa.

1966

  • Scientists of the Earth Guard League (EAGLE) begin work on a rocket.
  • Yoko Ono first meets John Lennon of The Beatles, an event that would eventually lead to their relationship, one of the numerous factors that led to The Beatles ultimately breaking up.

1968

  • The Japanese Olympic gymantics team starts using an "Ultra C" strategy during the Summer Olympics in Mexico City, Mexico.
  • The movie 2001: A Space Odyssey debuts in theaters.
  • The movie Planet of the Apes debuts in theaters.

1969

  • The TV show Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! debuts in the United States.
  • In Rock's hometown, his father acts as the "god" for the village's water-bearing festival.
  • Rock befriends the mysterious Tsukikage Clan after they save his life while training in Hell Valley.

1970

  • An abadoned girl named Sachiko Hoshino is picked up by the circus Chaud would eventually work for. The two would soon become as close as siblings.

1971

  • A meteorite crashes into Mount Fuji, leading to the discovery of Sakuradite. The meteorite contains a mystical gem called the Grand Crystal, which splits off into numerous fragments that are collected by a number of evil organizations.
  • The series Kamen Rider debuts in Japan.

1972

  • A plane crash takes the lives of both the parents and younger sister of Itsuki.

1973

  • The series Zone Fighter debuts in Japan.

1974

  • Hank Aaron breaks the world home run record formerly held by Babe Ruth.

    1975- 1980 

1975

Gorenger Events
  • The Black Cross Army makes an attack on EAGLE, destroying five bases simultaneously. Yugi, Yusuke, Jotaro, Medaka, and Ichigo survive by virtue of being off-site at the time. They're given a special serum to turn them into superhuman warriors called the Himitsu Sentai Gorenger, and placed under the command of Gonpachi Edogawa.
  • After suffering numerous defeats, the Black Cross Fuhrer calls in Sun Halo Mask from Africa to lead his forces.
  • As Sun Halo Mask starts to fail in his schemes, Black Cross Fuhrer calls in Iron Man Mask General Temujin to replace him. Hoping to redeem himself, Sun Halo Mask tries to kill Yugi to disrupt the Gorengers, but fails and is destroyed.
  • Temujin attempts to bolster the Black Cross Army's forces using the Atlantis warship, but the Gorengers eventually find the means to destroy it.
Other Events
  • The sudden emergence of the Black Cross Army causes the nations of the world to band together, ending the Cold War.
  • The movie series Truck Yaro debuts.
  • Go Fubuki inherits a metal record from his deceased grandfather, and upon hearing the melody on it starts to adapt it into a modern disco song, unaware that the record contains the Denzian melody.

1976

Gorenger Events
  • Hoping to gain air superiority over the Variblune, Black Cross Fuhrer calls in the Condoler War Fleet.
  • With Temujin's repeated failures, Black Cross Fuhrer decides to call in Volcano Mask Magman and his Navarone warship. In an effort to prove himself, Temujin tries to defeat the Gorengers personally. He manages to survive two Gorenger Storms, but ultimately dies when he tries to commandeer the Variblune and it winds up destroyed due to the Gorenger Storms Temujin still had with him.
  • The Varidreen is completed, allowing the Gorengers to regain air superiority over the Condolers. It also comes with the invincible Varitank for ground operations.
  • Magman manages to find data regarding the Gorengers powers with the help of Diamond Mask, only for the Gorengers to upgrade their gear by tapping further into the Bio-Field that allows their powers to function. They unleash their new finisher, the Gorenger Hurricane.
  • The Gorengers manage to find vital blueprints detailing the weak points of the Navarone. They sacrifice their Ranger Machines to destroy the warship. Enraged, Black Cross Fuhrer leaves Magman to be destroyed by the Gorengers.
  • Black Cross Fuhrer awakens Commander-in-Chief Golden Mask, his first and most loyal Masked Monster, from his slumber deep inside a secret tomb.
  • Jotaro is offered a commanding position in Kyushu, but turns the offer down due to the continued threat of the Black Cross Army.
  • The Gorengers gain access to the new Star Machines to replace the destroyed Ranger Machines.
  • During a vital bombing operation, Black Cross Fuhrer risks unleashing the dangerous Steel Sword Dragon to handle the Gorengers. They manage to destroy him by using five simultaneous Gorenger Hurricanes, stopping the bombing scheme.
  • The Black Cross Army tries to maintain a strong offensive position using their new Battler warship and Black Cross Ninja Corp, fielding all operations from then on from the Black Cross Castle.
  • During a Black Cross Army scheme to steal a potent mold culture, Jotaro barely manages to survive a fatal attack from Can Opener Mask.
  • The Gorengers add the multi-purpose balloon Varikikyun to their arsenal, proving its effectiveness when they need to silently infiltrate the fortress of Pineapple Mask.
Other Events
  • The Winter Olympics are held in Innsbruck, Austria. Yumeko and her college friend Wakamiya participate on behalf of Japan. Balalaika participates on behalf of the Soviet Union.
  • The Summer Olympics are held in Montreal, Canada.
  • Midari Ikishima's father disappears from Paris, having been abducted by Criminal Organization CRIME.
  • Misaki Akitsuki's parents disappear under unknown circumstances, supposedly due to a curse. The case is never solved.
  • Misaki's uncle joins CRIME, eventually rising to the rank of Crime Boss.
  • Japanese pop duo Pink Lady debuts.
  • Yai briefly time travels to this year, when she was a high schooler joining her father during a work study. After helping apprehend a dangerous criminal, she's suddenly brought back to the future with no memory of the four years in-between.
  • The movie Rocky debuts in theaters.

1977

Gorenger Events
  • On the day the constellation Cassiopeia enters the house of Scorpio, Black Cross Fuhrer decides to attack the Gorengers to show he is above fate. However, just as he's on the verge of victory, the energy of the constellation weakens him, forcing him to retreat.
  • Golden Mask takes up the challenge against the Gorengers, and is ultimately defeated. He turns his body into a golden rainbow to track down the Gorenger Room, allowing the Black Cross Castle to destroy it.
  • Yugi feigns surrender to Black Cross Fuhrer, using a simple light to prove that Black Cross Fuhrer is weakened by Cassiopeia and actively fears it. With this knowledge, the Gorengers are able to successfully defeat Black Cross Fuhrer, only for him to reveal that his true form is the Black Cross Castle.
  • The Gorengers decide to sacrifice their Star Machines and Varidreen to destroy the Black Cross Castle, taking the first shard of the Grand Crystal in the process. With his true body destroyed, the Black Cross Fuhrer falls along with what's left of his Black Cross Army.
JAKQ Events
  • To combat the rising activity of Criminal Organization CRIME, Daisuke Kujirai enlists the help of Yumeko, Mary, Yumemi, and Itsuki, turning them into cyborg warriors called JAKQ Dengekitai. Kujirai leads the team under the codename Joker to complete their Royal Flush motif.
  • Joker is called to the United States to head up ISSIS operations there, but leaves the team in the capable hands of Rei Batsubami. She introduces the team to their fifth member Ryota, who gives them access to the Big Bomber to deal with CRIME's more powerful Invader Robots.
  • The mysterious Shine reveals himself to JAKQ, and claims CRIME is an extraterrestrial invasion force, with the name standing for Cosmic Rulers Intending Malevolence Eternal.
  • Boss Iron Claw gets replaced by Great King Icarus, who enacts a scheme to move Earth closer to the Shine star system for colonization. However, he makes a blunder when he shoots down the JAKQs' VTOL Sky Ace, allowing Yumeko and Yumemi to discover CRIME's secret headquarters. Yumemi gets critically wounded during the attempted infiltration.
  • Joker returns to Japan and is able to successfully repair Yumemi. Meanwhile, Iron Claw makes his contempt for Great King Icarus' reckless actions known, destroying him and retaking control of CRIME.
  • The JAKQs invade CRIME Fortress Island, discovering that Shine is a robotic entity. After frying its circuits and taking CRIME's Grand Crystal shard, they reveal this truth to Iron Claw. He's defeated in a final battle with the JAKQs.
Other Events
  • The Gorengers systematically wipe out the Sahara Army, Iron Mask Army, Boxer Army, and UFO Army, prompting all four evil orgnizations to band together with CRIME in an effort to regain power.
  • A soldier from Balalaika's unit is murdered by associates of the Dark General, a mastermind of the underworld they were pursuing.
  • Yuichi Kazama attempts to start his art career, but is constantly rebuffed for his controversially dark painting style.
  • The nightclub and discotheque Studio 54 is opened to the public.

1978

JAKQ Events
  • Having survived his battle with JAKQ, Boss Iron Claw gathers together Baron Iron Mask, General Sahara, Captain UFO, and Hell Boxer in one last bid to conquer the world. The JAKQs and Gorengers team up to destroy the evil alliance and finally defeat Boss Iron Claw once and for all.
Other Events
  • The Bio-Field is renamed the Morphin Grid after extensive research into its mechanics.
  • Mitsuru Okiyama's sister, the future Black Tiger Mari, goes missing. She's later revealed to have been inducted into a combat school owned by Secret Society Egos.
  • Taito releases their new video game Space Invaders.
  • Spider-Man debuts in Japan as a collaboration between Toei Company and Marvel Studios.

1979

Battle Fever Events
  • When Secret Society Egos starts masterminding a series of bizarre murders, Kurama Tetsuzan calls in Rock, Balalaika, Pip, and Dutch. They're soon joined by Eda, and obtain the power to fight Egos as Battle Fever J.
  • Satan Egos learns that Battle Fever is planning to awaken a powerful new weapon and tries to obtain information on it. However, despite his best efforts, including using an actual psychic, all he learns is that it's some kind of giant robot.
  • Planning to take advantage of the incomplete robot, Egos unveils their line of Devil Robots, giant robotic versions of their Egos Monsters. However, Battle Fever had deceived Egos, and debut their fully operational mecha called Battle Fever Robo.
  • Hoping to gain funds to build more Devil Robots, Egos learns their handlers in the mafia stationed in Florida mismanaged the team hired to create perfect counterfeit cash. Egos and Battle Fever head for Roanapur in hopes of reaching the secretive Greenback Jane first. Battle Fever ultimately succeeds and convinces Jane to join the global defence forces to stop organizations like Egos.
  • Commander Hedder calls in his student Salome from America in an effort to use her strength to defeat Battle Fever. While she fails to learn anything substantial regarding Battle Fever's secrets, her strength and loyalty do impress Satan Egos, and he grants her a position of command among Egos.
  • Eda's adopted sister Diane Martin comes under attack by Dracula Monster, mistaking her for Miss America. Eda is able to save her sister, but has to send her away for her own safety.
  • Bandage Monster is able to discover the secret identities of Battle Fever, allowing Egos to make more personal attacks.
  • Balalaika helps comfort a young girl whose father was murdered by Egos. When Egos attacks them both, Balalaika barely survives an assault from Eagle Monster, leaving her with permanent scars along her face and chest.
  • Upon learning Egos has some sort of deal with the Dark General, Balalaika tries to take revenge for her fallen comrade. However, she learns Egos is not the buyer but the seller, as the Dark General is in fact Cicada Killer Monster. Balalaika puts aside all pretense of revenge and works with the rest of the Battle Fevers to destroy him.
Other Events
  • Tokio, a member of the circus Chaud works for, disappears to go gambling hoping to earn money for a new motorcycle. He would eventually be coerced into joining the Grim Reaper Gang.
  • Officer Chieko Matsuo wins Tokyo's Miss Metro Police beauty pageant, with Yai as the runner-up.

1980

Battle Fever Events
  • Commander Hedder manages to force Tetsuzan into a one-on-one duel in an effort to prove the superiority of his Jashin style. However, Tetsuzan sees through his tricks and successfully kills Hedder.
  • Satan Egos uses his Monster-Making Capsule to revive the fallen commander as Hedder Monster, who attacks the Battle Fevers by psychically controlling revived Devil Robots. The team destroys him, but a small piece of him manages to hitch a ride into Big Baser in an effort to destroy it. Tetsuzan foils his plan using his robotic mynah Kyutaro, and the team destroy Hedder Monster using a special capsule and a heat ray.
  • Egos creates a series of earthquakes that prompts an investigation by Battle Fever, during which they manage to capture Salome and convince her to give up the location of Egos' headquarters. However, it turns out to be a trap as Satan Egos intends to absorb Battle Fever into the Monster-Making Capsule and create the invincible Battle Fever Monster. The trap ultimately fails as Battle Fever destroys the Monster-Making Capsule from inside it.
  • With his forces depleted, Satan Egos switches from taking over the world to destroying it, abandoning his base and growing in size to create a catastrophe. Salome is caught in the base's destruction and killed while Battle Fever flees the base after taking the third Grand Crystal shard. Battle Fever Robo is summoned to fight Satan Egos and successfully kills him by stabbing him with the Denkouken, simultaneously eliminating all traces of Egos worldwide.
Denziman Events
  • The Vader Clan appears from another dimension to attack Earth. Their arrival causes Denzi Land to activate, awakening Denzi Dog IC. He proceeds to locate five youths, Lan, Eugene, Dex, Yai, and Mayl, to become Denshi Sentai Denziman.
  • Umitsular is unleashed to destroy Earth as he did Planet Denzi. IC reveals the history of Denzi's fall to the team in order to inspire them to defeat Umitsular.
  • A mother named Keiko Sugimoto, who happens to be descended from Claire, is kidnapped so that Vader can lay claim to the Rainbow Stone in hopes of using its powers to defeat the Denzimen. In trying to rescue Keiko for the sake of her daughter Harumi, the Denzimen learn that they are directly descended from Princess Denzi's five mightiest warriors.
  • Go Fubuki releases his hit single ''Galatic Honey", based on the Denzian melody. When Queen Hedrian hears it she has anyone listening to it attacked. The Denzimen eventually get their hands on the record after learning its history.
  • The Denzimen invite Paul Izaki, a French detective hoping to find his true heritage, into Denzi Land when they learn that certain descedents of the Denzians have started to develop psychic powers.
  • Banriki descends on Earth to destroy the Denzimen. Although likewise showing a mutual hatred of the Vader Clan, he decides to stay with them to their annoyance.
  • The Denzimen finally discover Princess Denzi's descendant, a preschool teacher named Yuko Ariake, and help protect her students from Vader.
Other Events
  • The Summer Olympics are held in Moscow, Soviet Union.
  • Akira Toriyama's manga Dr. Slump is first featured in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.

    1980s 

1985

  • Yai briefly time travels to an alternate version of this year, where the Vader Clan has successfully turned humans into primitives by sending violent criminals into the time of cavemen. This future disappears forever after Yai is pulled back into the past.
