Thinking you lost your child is worse than losing your acorn.

For a show as funny as Scrat Tales, there are some heartbreaking moments in it.

  • At the end of Nutty Reflections, Scrat has barely managed to escape a collapsing cavern while carrying Baby Scrat to safety. When the dust clears, Scrat at first feels relieved, but then realizes, to his horror, that Baby Scrat is not in his arms anymore. Scrat panics, and looks around, but sees no sign of his adopted child. Fearing the worst, Scrat's eyes fill with tears (pictured above), looking mere seconds from breaking down. In this quick moment, it shows the viewer that no matter how much trouble Baby Scrat has put Scrat through, Baby Scrat was the only other thing besides his acorn that made Scrat happy. Luckily the mood changes a few seconds later, when Baby Scrat tugs on Scrat's tail, showing he's alive and unharmed, much to Scrat's joy.
    • It also is worth mentioning that when Scrat loses his acorn, his reaction is complete frustration, as he has gone through so much to keep it safe, only to have the same thing happen again. That's funny. However, Scrat has never cried over losing his acorns, so when Scrat believes he has lost his child, his reaction is heartbreaking. It shows deep down, Scrat loves Baby Scrat more than any acorns in the world.
  • One of the most saddening moments comes in the final episode, in which Baby Scrat holds elderly Scrat's paw in his own until the latter passes away. When their eyes meet before Scrat takes his final breath, Baby Scrat is visibly tearing up...and when Scrat's paw falls, the wind blows away Scrat's image drawn in the sand. Luckily, as the episode title would imply, thanks to cartoon logic, Scrat resurrects himself and revitalizes his body to his young age. Even though it was out of rage (as he (as a ghost) had realized that Baby Scrat had tricked him about the acorn's destruction so that he could have it to himself once Scrat passed), at least the two are back together. Despite their rivalry, they still love each other, and that's bound to come back to those two sometime in the future, so it's grateful to the audience that the two are reunited.
  • The fact that this was Blue Sky Studios' last production hits way too hard. And if you stick around for the credits of the final episode, you'll get one final message from the Blue Sky team:
"Scrat was the first character to appear in Blue Sky's first movie, "Ice Age." Like him, we were reaching for something that might have been unattainable. Yet time after time both we and Scrat have managed to get our arms around versions of that elusive acorn.
Unfortunately, it's not possible to hold on to anything forever.
We've had more fun bringing our movies to life than anyone should be allowed. We hope you've been able to feel some of that joy.
Thank you, from the bottom of our collective Blue Sky hearts, for being with us all these years."
