- Helga's insecurity and uncertainty after San Lorenzo certainly counts.
Am I a Good Mother?
- Andy is now three years old and is finally starting preschool, which he's really excited about, and his parents do everything they can to make it special for him. Unfortunately, Helga ends up having flashbacks to her own first day of preschool, but she doesn't say anything, not wanting to spoil Andy's excitement. After dropping their son off at Urban Tots Preschool, Helga finally confesses to Arnold how she's been feeling—she admits she's worried that she'll end up making the same mistakes that her own parents did when she was growing up. While Arnold ultimately helps his wife to feel betternote and it's obvious that Helga's a way better parent than either Bob or Miriam ever were, it's still rather heartbreaking to see this.
The Spelling Bee II
- Helga's flashbacks to when she and Arnold had competed in the titular competition and how she felt upon learning of her dad's attempts at bribery, as well as his lack of confidence in her to win the spelling bee on her own, are very sad.
- It also turns out that Bob's attempt to bribe someone at the spelling bee when Helga and Andy competed weren't the only times he had done that—he had also tried bribery back when Olga first competed and he was planning on doing it during the times that Logan and Lisa (Olga's kids) competed, but they had already lost before he had a chance to do so. Olga's heartbroken to discover that despite working so hard to please her father when she was a kid, he still didn't have that much faith in her to win the competition on her own either. Obviously, Bob's grandkids are also furious with him that, for all of his talk on "Pataki Pride", he still had little faith in them as well.
