• The Cameo: Gearfried the Iron Knight is summoned by Joey in an attempt to bring down Yami Marik after Ra destroys Gilford but can't do anything before Joey collapses from the pain from the Shadow Duel.
• Hope Spot: Joey's still standing as Ra returns to the grave, leaving Marik wide open for an attack as he summons Gearfried...only for Joey to pass out just as he's about to win.
• Negated Moment of Awesome: Played with. Joey is literally seconds away from defeating Marik without even having to use an Egyptian God card, a feat that not even Yugi could replicate, but he collapses from the damage inflicted to his body and mind before he can declare his final attack, making Marik win by default. However, before this happens, Marik is forced to reveal the Winged Dragon of Ra's final ability and is in so much pain after the duel that he's gagging into his hands.
