And Then The Hurricane Hit
Ani and Clay meet up before Clay attempts to leave town. Ani says she will be his alibi but he tells her he can't risk her being implicated. They kiss before he leaves to hitchhike out of town. Clay calls Tyler to tell him he won't be at school which Tyler responds in disappointment. He explains that something important will be happening today that he'll miss.
Jessica holds an assembly in the hall and apologises for the events of homecoming. Students from Hillcrest and Liberty High attend. She gives a passionate speech about standing up for survivors of sexual assault and several students stand up, one after the other, stating that they are victims. Tyler is one of them. Justin also reveals he is, too. Later on, Justin explains to Jessica that he was abused by his mother's boyfriends and when he was on the streets, he would do things with guys for money and drugs. Sometimes these were things he hadn't agreed to. Clay shows up at the last minute to the assembly but ends up being arrested. The police ask Clay about the texts and steroids. Clay passes off the fact Bryce died after he'd sent the texts was a coincidence. Clay ends up sent down.
Flashback. At the homecoming game, Clay catches Ani and Bryce sharing a kiss. Clay confronts Ani about it and he later goes to confront Bryce when the fights erupts on the field.
Flashback. Chloe is seen telling Bryce about her pregnancy and the fact that the baby was his. She admits she had an abortion and it was Zach who supported her through it. This is the reason Bryce attacked Zach at the homecoming game, breaking Zach's knee and ruining his football career. In revenge, Zach finds Bryce at the docks where they fight and Zach throws Bryce's phone in the water before leaving him there.
Present Day. The day after Clay's arrest, Zach tells Alex that he's responsible for Bryce's death and Clay shouldn't take the wrap for it. Zach makes his way to the station to turn himself in despite Alex's suspicions. Deputy Standall tells Zach that he didn't kill Bryce and his crime was that of assault and battery. He tells him that Bryce's death was caused by drowning, not assault. Standall tells Zach that they couldn't determine whether Bryce's injuries had come from the fight at the game or from falling onto rocks, so Zach couldn't be arrested.
Meanwhile, Tyler makes the brave decision to report his attack to the police. With the support of Justin, Jessica and Charlie, he tells the police and Monty is later arrested.
Flashback. Bryce is seen at the docks, injured from the fight with Zach. He sees someone approaching but their face is obscured. The only clear thing is they're male.
Present Day. Ani and Jessica are talking and Ani confesses she was sleeping with Bryce. Ani tells her it's the worst thing she's ever done before asking Jessica what the worst thing she's ever done.
