While Ash and his friends are traveling through the Pinwheel Forest, a Sewaddle appears out of nowhere and starts causing trouble for Ash and Pikachu. They also meet Burgh, the Castelia Gym Leader, who is camping in the forest looking for inspiration for his next clothing design and is friends with this Sewaddle. Ash and co. spend the day with him and tail Sewaddle to observe a day in the life of a wild Pokémon while Burgh looks for inspiration.

- Later-Installment Weirdness: When Ash catches Sewaddle, it's his seventh on-hand Pokémon. The last time this happened was with Ash's Kingler, then a Krabby, very early in the series. But this time, instead of the Poké Ball simply teleporting away, it shrinks and seals itself until Ash can send one of his Pokémon to Professor Juniper.
