The time: one year before the events of MLP. The place: Manehattan, Equestria.

In line with the "matter cannot be created or destroyed" excuse with sending creatures to other worlds, Omega's death explosion atomizes Leviathan but transports her to Equestria in the process. Being shocked and not too happy with her predicament, since she's heavily damaged and running low on Energen, she's forced to hide in an alley alongside an apartment building after a startling first meeting with the locals.

Upon hearing that magic is a real thing in this world, Leviathan briefly undergoes a system reboot and defrag. Meanwhile, several remodelers stumble across her and transport her to a horror theater. She wakes up at the exact moment that the theater's owner—a bombastic unicorn that likes to feign insanity—comes out to see the new donation, provoking a chase that takes her to a grocery store several blocks away.

Leviathan throws the unicorn out of the way of an errant lightning strike, stopping the chase. She formally introduces herself to Drama Heart, Gray Ghost—whom she had briefly met at the apartment building—and one of Drama's fans while waiting out the storm indoors. She discovers that Heartbreakers candy, referred to by Drama as "the holy grail of sugarholics everywhere", acts as an Energen substitute. She immediately sets her auto-repair system to work on fixing herself, then secures Drama's assistance in getting herself cleaned and having a place to stay.

That night, a group of thieves known as the Midnight Castles raid Drama's theater. Leviathan successfully repels the raid and gets the entire group arrested, making the acquaintance of the Manehattan Royal Police Department. Buried Lede from the Manehattan Minutes turns up in the morning to talk with everyone involved in recent events, though Gray takes Leviathan on a brief tour of Manehattan while Drama is interviewed.

Leviathan is flummoxed by statements made concerning Princess Celestia's power and age. After the Reploid purchases a coat from a grumpy minotaur to hide her injuries, meets Charity Kindheart and soothes the fears of a worried mother, Celestia playfully flaunts her power at Gray's request by maneuvering the sun in a "Hello"-shaped pattern. This forces Leviathan into Sleep Mode as she has trouble processing this.

After waking up, she returns to the Pyre of Fears and is interviewed by Buried Lede. The resulting stories in the newspaper causes Manehattan to go up in metaphorical flames the next day, the revelation that they weren't alone in the universe driving ponies everywhere up the wall in various ways. Leviathan uses the newspaper as an excuse to make sure her understanding of the local language is up to par.

Drama Heart introduces her to the concept of heartsongs, but frightens her with her enthusiasm for her work. Leviathan takes the excuse to leave and retreats to the Manehattan Aquarium. While there she's able to relax for a bit and make the acquaintance of Gray's family—including Ebony Evening, who is pediophobic.

Returning to the Pyre, Leviathan finds that she's received a letter from Celestia, and is all but over the moon at what was written. Meanwhile, Drama learns that a younger sibling back in Baltimare is pregnant with twins; she immediately bolts for the train station, leaving Leviathan in charge of the building until her return. While she's gone, the Guardian discovers that she had hardware hidden from herself all along and experiences a brief freakout because of it. On recovering, she creates a subroutine with the intent of breaking the passwords surrounding them.

A few days later, Leviathan attends a bowling match she was invited to. While there she saves one of Gray's children from a suspicious member of the opposing team, but sparks a brief altercation with Gray in the aftermath that results in the Pyre's stairwell getting ripped apart. After Drama returns home and hears about what happened, she ropes Gray (and Ebony as a volunteer) into working at the Pyre to pay for damages. The rest of the family—minus the husband Ocean Guard, who has his own job—tag along for the ride, allowing Leviathan to grow closer to them.

Two weeks after her arrival, Leviathan is fully repaired and her Double Jump system is unlocked. She celebrates by roof-hopping across the city, splashing an idiot who was relaxing at poolside, and having an arm wrestling match with the grumpy minotaur Bossa Nova. She is then put to the test in combat by Gray Ghost, with Shining Armor acting as a referee.
