Now it's Barry's turn to act. The bear is overthinking all his steps, going as far as to accidentally digging out of his garden. Even at night, he's too worked up to sleep, thinking how he can beat Wally. Finally, Barry comes up with a solution and makes his move, laughing maliciously at Wally's face. This move stuns Wally so much that he only thinks of a comeback for an entire day. Later, when he makes his move, Barry pulls him over and does the same. After a few turns, Wally declares it a checkmate, causing Barry to ask for a rematch.
Wally begins thinking over his moves, which irritates Rosa, who asks him to bring some water for her flowers. Even on his way to get water, Wally begins treating a simple task like a game of chess; she'll ask Wally to water the flowers himself, causing him to tell her that he can't, prompting Rosa to get water on her own, making her dirty on the way, after which she'll ask him for more water so she can wash herself. Eventually, Wally comes up with a way to solve all of Rosa's problems and splashes water on both the flowers and Rosa. This angers her to the point she begins chasing Wally to give him a real checkmate...
