Jessica reveals shocking details about her past during a U.S. citizenship interview. Meanwhile, on a day off from school, Eddie, Emery and Evan try to take the family minivan for a joyride.
- Blackmail: Jenny Huang takes a polaroid picture of the kids trying to fix the damage they did to the minivan in order to get them to help her organize her perfumes. When they consider backing out during the ordeal and just getting punished by their parents, she reveals she has an entire "Leverage Wall" consisting of photos of the entire family committing various offenses, which will destabilize the entire household if they don't continue.
- Marriage of Convenience: Louis is aghast to learn that his marriage to Jessica is one of these, though she does state that she tried as hard as she could to register her citizenship beforehand so that she could marry him as an equal.
- Not So Above It All: Jessica spends the episode deriding Louis for believing in love at first sight, as he claims he fell in love with her when they first met while it took five dates (and impending eviction from the country) for her to accept his proposal. But at the end, when the person conducting the interview asks Jessica about a criminal charge, she begrudgingly admits that she also fell in love with Louis after their first meeting and defaced property to record Louis' phone number, and held out only to try to get her citizenship first.
