Recap / Fates Collide Ch 70 Wait And Hope

Go To

Jaune tries to find Jeanne, then hears an explosion and moves toward it. He finds Da Vinci holding Dr. Roman and begging him to hold on. The wall was broken through and Jaune sees Jeanne and Jalter fighting outside. Jaune immediately realizes he is seeing an Alter of Jeanne and Da Vinci tearfully admits they created her for study, but didn't mean for this to happen. Jaune is furious, but starts healing Dr. Roman and tells her to help Jeanne. As Da Vinci charges outside, Jaune thinks it is strange that they named her Jalter.

Da Vinci launches her metal gauntlet like a rocket and forces Jalter back. Da Vinci tells Jeanne to stand back and let her handle this to atone for her mistake. Jeanne warns her that Jalter is much stronger than Jaune Alter, which angers Jalter for bringing him up. Jalter covers her sword with black flames and clashes it with Da Vinci's gauntlet, with hurts Da Vinci a little, but she blasts Jalter with a flamethrower and then a freeze ray from the gauntlet before punching her through a boulder. Da Vinci is tired and says that's why she doesn't go out in the field anymore, but Jalter gets up. Da Vinci uses her Noble Phantasm, Uomo Universale, which launches a tiny, slow moving ball of energy. Jalter laughs at the pathetic attack, but it creates a huge explosion and leaves a huge crater.

Before they can celebrate, Jalter, now more bloody and burnt, gets up again and impales Da Vinci's arms with conjured stakes before throwing her to the side. Jeanne uses Luminosité Eternelle‎ to create her force field from her flag, but Jalter uses La Grondement Du Haine to launch a huge blast of flames. The flames destroy the grass and rocks, but the force field holds. Stakes suddenly stab Jeanne in the back, but she holds on. Jalter falls to her knees exhausted and is displeased to find Jeanne and Da Vinci were unharmed by the flames as the stakes disappear. Jeanne declares she will end this and draws her sword. Since Jalter has her memories, she is horrified when she realizes Jeanne is planning to use her other Noble Phantasm, La Pucelle. Jaune is horrified when Jeanne and Jalter both explain it is an attack that will sacrifice Jeanne's life force to annihilate the target. Jalter nervously points out that attack can't be used in hatred, but Jeanne says she doesn't hate her, she hates herself for what she did to her. She prepares the attack as Jaune and Jalter both beg her to stop.

Suddenly, Edmond Dantes, his chest bandaged from his injuries in Round Two, shows up and puts his hand over Jeanne's, telling her there is no need for that. He says the noise from the fight woke him up and reminds Jeanne he told her to wait and hope. He looks upon Jalter and is confused. Jalter addresses him by his full title, "The Count of Monte Cristo, The King of the Cavern, The Vengeance Grimm." Dantes is pleased that someone finally called him by his titles, then says he has no idea what is going on or why she looks like Jeanne, but he can tell she is an Avenger like him. He can tell she was imprisoned and wants revenge, but he cannot allow her to kill Jeanne, then calls her Witch of Vengeance. Jalter blushes and says his charm will not work on her like it did on Jeanne. Everyone gets shocked by this statement, then Jalter reminds them she has Jeanne's memories and says they have a crush on Dantes, which shocks Dantes and makes Jeanne blush. Jaune suddenly screams, "I KNEW IT! I WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG!" He then awkwardly says Dr. Roman is healed, which makes Da Vinci revive and smile.

Jeanne comments on Jalter saying she also has a crush on Dantes, which makes Jalter quickly deny ever saying that. Everyone looks up to see three Grimm Dragons flying towards the school with a fourth one lagging behind. Jalter says she will withdraw and go on a vacation, and if Jeanne survives the invasion, then one day, she will come back to kill her. She leaps into the sky and lands on one dragon's head. It tries to shake her off, but she stabs and takes control of it, and it flies away. Dantes says maybe he should call her Dragon Witch. Jeanne struggles to make eye contract with him and he says they can talk after they take care of the other dragons. Jaune joins them after putting Dr. Roman in another room. Jeanne notices the fourth dragon has a different body design and some familiar markings. This dragon suddenly attacks one of the others and throws it down.

Merlin jumps off the marked dragon's back and joins them. Dantes asks what is going on, then is thrown for a loop when the dragon transforms into Siegfried, though with horns, wings, and a tail. Jeanne is really happy to see him again. Merlin says he tried, but he wasn't able to completely restore his humanity. Siegfried suddenly screams and punches Jaune, mistaking him for Jaune Alter. Siegfried realizes his mistake and apologizes, while Jaune grits his teeth in pain and says he's used to it. The dragon Siegfried threw down gets up, but Merlin summons Balmung and hands it back to Siegfried, who destroys the dragon with Balmung's beam and says it's good to be back.

As Jeanne helps Da Vinci up, Dantes and Jaune point out the other dragon is flying into town, but Merlin says they have nothing to worry about, because it is approaching the temple that is Medea's home. At the temple, Sasaki Kojiro quickly kills the dragon with his Swallow Reversal technique, with lets him strike three times in an instant. The dragon falls apart while Sasaki says it is rare he gets to have fun.
