Chapter 7
Professor Kukui reflects on the craziness that's happened around Ash, watching him help his Pokémon adjust to their evolutions as he sorts through the items that the Mews brought. Pikachu talks with Meganium about her evolution and then to the Pokémon belonging to the Alolan natives, talking them through the shock of meeting multiple gods, explaining that it's their life being part of the Chosen One's team, and that the easiest thing to do is roll with it and have fun with it. They tentatively accept this as a light appears on the beach.
Ash, who was giving Garchomp a TM for Aerial Ace to help him with agility in his new form, looks over at the light to see Xerneas appear. After a polite greeting, Xerneas tells him that she will be the last one to give him a gift that day, much to Ash's relief. As a show of trust as well as gratitude, she presents Ash with six Pokémon Eggs. As soon as she leaves, however, a portal rips into existence behind him.
Garchomp intercepts a boulder shot out of the portal, and a strange red beast [Buzzwole] sends Garchomp flying before attacking Ash again. Garchomp intercepts him again, noting that without his new evolution, he wouldn't have survived the attacks. Ash starts instructing him, and after Garchomp uses the TM, he gets the upper hand. An Ice Punch sends him reeling, but as Ash reflects on his relationship with Garchomp in concern, his Mega Bracelet activates. Mega Garchomp quickly ends the battle by flying up and then slamming the beast with Earthquake, leaving it unable to battle. Mega Garchomp charges up another attack to finish it for good, but Ash calls him off, and Mega Garchomp is briefly stunned by how he nearly attacked a helpless opponent. He's blindsided as more of the same beasts appear in the portal, but Ash's other Pokémon bombard them to keep them at bay. The first beast regards Ash and Mega Garchomp in confusion before retreating into the portal, which closes as the remaining beasts follow his lead.
Elsewhere, Looker receives a report of the Ultra Beast incursion and books a flight to Alola.
