- Adaptational Explanation: Ozpin's oddly melancholy speech to the new arrivals in the original show went without explanation. Here, it's implied he's just buggered from having to deal with another person trying to rule the world on top of his current situation.
- Arbitrary Skepticism:
- For a guy who knows the gods have left the planet and has been fighting his ex-wife for thousands of years, Oz was oddly skeptical about the possibility of alien life until it showed up in his town one night.
- Yang staunchly refuses to believe Ruby about Sonic despite it being both too weird to throw in a story and living on a world where people with animal traits exist.
- Info Dump: Most of the conversations between Team Sonic and Ozpin are the two informing each other on how on Remnant works, Eggman and the Chaos Emeralds.
- Stations of the Canon: The events for the future Team RWBY play out almost exactly like they did in the original show aside from Ruby trying to convince Yang that talking blue hedgehogs are real.
