Basic Trope: Naming (or Nicknaming) someone after a weapon.
- Straight: A descendant of one of Tales of Troperia's mainstay rivals, best known for wielding a BFS, is named "Clay Moore".
- Exaggerated: The name of Clay's ancestor, "Claidheamh Mor", directly translates to "Greatsword".
- Downplayed: Moore isn't Clay's surname, but he's still called "Claymore" by other characters.
- Justified: Clay lugs around a claymore as his signature weapon. It's only natural to call him after the sword he wields, especially when there's No Name Given.
- Inverted:
- I Call It "Vera"
- The weapon is named after the character. (EG: Samuel Colt, founder of the eponymous firearm manufacturing company)
- Subverted: Clay drops the surname "Moore" for a surname that makes his name sound less strange.
- Double Subverted: However, the name he picked; "DeLeigh", makes his name sound similar to "Claidheamh da Laimh", which means "Two Handed Sword".
- Parodied: Characters are given a naming scheme after their weapon of choice.
- Zig-Zagged: Everyone calls him Clay because he has a ludicrous amount of names.
- Averted:
- Clay doesn't have a nickname.
- Clay isn't named after a weapon.
- Enforced: It sounds intimidating, and perfect for the '90s Anti-Hero archetype.
- Lampshaded: "What dumb fucking parent calls their kid sword!?"
- Invoked: Clay, in order to adopt a more menacing new profile, takes on the nickname "Claymore".
- Exploited: ???
- Defied: "Nah, we're not calling our kid after a weapon. That's too strange."
- Discussed: ???
- Conversed: ???
They Call Him "Sword", but we call him Cuthbert Liszt.
