Basic Trope: A setting or situation in which anyone who dies will become a danger...unless precautions are taken.

  • Straight: Anyone who dies in the Zone of Zombies will rise and attack others...unless their brains are destroyed.
  • Exaggerated: Anyone who dies in any way in the work will become a zombie/vampire/ghost/etc and attack their compatriots...unless a laundry list of safeguards is enacted first.
  • Downplayed: Anyone who dies in the Zone of Zombies has a chance of turning unless their brains are destroyed.
  • Justified: Zombie-ism is spread via virus, and it's all over the Zone of Zombies.
  • Inverted: ???
  • Subverted: Bob dies in the Zone of Zombies, and Alice tells Charlie she's heard that nasty things happen if you don't "deal with" a corpse...but Bob never rises, even though they can't bring themselves to destroy the body.
  • Double Subverted: However, the corpse does attract the ghouls that share the zone with the zombies.
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Enforced: The author originally writes the zombie virus as being spread by bites, meaning that Bob, who died from falling down a cliff, is clean. However, the executive wants another Jump Scare and forces him to change the virus to something that transforms everyone in the area.
  • Lampshaded:
Alice: Dead things can be dangerous...if you don't take precautions.
  • Invoked: Emperor Evulz has a curse placed on a specific location that will cause any dead body to reanimate unless the head is damaged.
  • Exploited: Emperor Evulz chases the battered heroes into the Zone of Zombies, hoping that one of them will die from their wounds, keep their head undamaged, and take out their companions upon rising.
  • Defied: ???
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Implied: After Bob dies, Alice picks up a gun while commenting about needing to make "preparations."
  • Played for Laughs: Anyone who dies in the Zone of Zombies will rise and attack their compatriots...unless the survivors wear silly hats and clown noses and dance the tarantella around the corpse.
  • Played for Drama: The precautions are rather gruesome, especially given that Alice and Charlie knew Bob for a long time. They struggle to do them, even though they know every moment they delay increases the danger.

Well, that's it for Precautionary Corpse Disposal. You'd better set the body on fire before you go...
