Headscratchers / The Projected Man

Go To

  • Could someone explain why the assistant Sheila is told to disrobe by Prof. Blanchard. I mean, besides the obvious reason. Sheila gets blinded by the projector machine, and says her eyes hurt, and so Blanchard instructs her to go up to his office and "take your clothes off", and he'll be there soon to inspect her eyes. Um... what?
    • Sheila's dressed in a lab smock, not her normal clothes. She's undergone a traumatic event where she may have killed her boss. Blanchard then tells her to change back into her normal clothes and out of the clothes that she was wearing when the traumatic event happened in the hope that it will help restore a sense of normality. She can now also go home once she's changed into her normal clothes. Also Blanchard is heavily implied to be a pervert by the conversation of his blackmailer on the phone ("Or elements of your 'warm and cozy private life' will be much more widely known"), so it's entirely possible (even likely) that Blanchard either wanted to sneak a peak at Sheila undressing, or he wanted to take things further with her in her vulnerable state, and saw his opportunity then. It also allowed for Professor Steiner to cross paths with Sheila and abduct her, because she is now using Blanchard's office to change, and Steiner is going Blanchard's office to hopefully kill Blanchard for revenge.
