Why didn't Dr. Waller care about Fiddler dying? I know he's racist and views Fiddler as mere property, but his death still amounts to lost property on Waller's part, and it seems like something that he wouldn't just gloss over and not care about (especially given his furious reaction to Noah, another one of his slaves, being killed and his lamentation of the loss of valuable property on his part). It just seems like Fiddler's death happens and Dr. Waller literally just didn't care that one of his slaves was missing and never came back, did he seriously just not mind the fact that one day Fiddler was there and then the next he wasn't? Also, when Kunta and Fiddler were confronted by the militiamen that wanted to take Kizzy, why didn't they try to reason with them and point out the fact that doing so would've been tantamount to stealing Dr. Waller's property (from the law's point of view)? Sure the militiamen might not have listened but at least it was worth a shot, right? The militiamen obviously wouldn't have cared about the feelings of Kunta or Fiddler but they probably wouldn't want to piss off Dr. Waller by stealing what he viewed as his property right?
