  • The whole "prodigies were presecuted" becomes shadier and shadier the more you think about it. How does one persecute someone who can spout fire from their flames, or is completely indestructible, or has any other of the thousands of deadly and powerful abilities the prodigies in the novels display? Especially as the second book implies the prodigies have been appearing as far back as the middle ages, where people didn't have access to modern weaponry that could level the playing field.
    • It’s possible that any prodigies that were alive centuries ago were accused of being witches or changelings or demon spawn. After all, plenty of people accused of witchcraft in 1692 Salem weren’t on the receiving end of modern weaponry.
    • People in Salem also didn't have actual magic powers.
    • Enough people working together can do quite a bit.
    • A good, ol' bow and arrow can be an extremely dangerous weapon. Silent projectiles, causes more damage than a bullet on entry and removal, and people unfamiliar with them would possibly be liable to try to pull the arrow out immediately. It's plausible that prodigies could've been sniped.
