Headscratchers / Life (1999)

• The film ends on a somewhat happy note as Ray and Claude finally get out of prison and it is revealed that they are living together in Harlem. How would they be able to truly live there though? They escaped from prison without a dime to their names. Where did they get the money for a place to live? Two 90 year old men with no money or any form of identification can't rent an apartment. How would they get money for food or utilities...or a vehicle to get around? They have no driver's licenses or any form of ID so they literally can't do anything. Any relatives or friends they may have known in the area are surely dead by now after they spent 65 years in prison. Even if they tried to get jobs..who would hire men their age? Walmart might hire them as door greeters perhaps but that's about it...but a background check would reveal that they are prisoners. Besides..A minimum wage job like that wouldn't pay enough to live in New York anyway. These men have nowhere to go...how would they survive?
